In terms of leaving the cups in without sterilizing them first- you do realize there is a rather large difference between a finger or tongue that penetrates for a short period of time and something that is staying in place over the course of days?

My cat had both eyes removed due to infection. One day after the surgery he was running about without a care. He has no problems getting around, finds his litterbox just fine, and generally acts like any other cat. The one thing he *can't* do is jump onto high places or from side to side. He can jump up from the…
I'm sorry, but this just does not happen. At least not more than in one or two particularly gross cases. Many other countries already ban declawing and there is no rash of DIYers hacking off toes. It just isn't an operation that people *can* perform at home, unlike ear cropping (which requires only scissors) …
Declawing isn't a DIY at home operation. It's removal of the entire first joint of the toe. Anyone attempting that at home would result in an instantly noticeable issue to any visitor, the cat would likely require veterinary intervention to avoid being crippled, and the person would be charged with animal cruelty.
I only recently started watching just because so many people praise it so highly. And honestly, while binge watching all of the existing seasons, I had the same feeling Ben did about a certain little horse. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was good, I just didn't see what was so amazing about it.
Yes, most animals that are abandoned don't get a happy ending. I fully admit that. I'm a vet tech, so trust me when I say I've seen terrible things happen to homeless pets. I'm just saying that most animals that enter the shelter system don't get a happy ending either. I feel that when we support the shelter line…
Again, the options are not only restricted to rolling the dice on possibly dying slowly vs. dying quickly. The fact that our shelter system insists that they are is just a sign of how badly broken it is.
An abandoned dog still has a *chance* of finding a home or someone willing to network for them. I'm not saying abandoning a dog is *good* by any means, but life means hope of improvement. A dead dog has no chances.
Pretty damn sure that bear clip shows an animal engaging in stereotyped behavior. It's commonly seen in zoos that don't have enough enrichment and is a sign of boredom and stress. Basically the animal is so deprived of stimulation that they lapse into repetitive behavior.
I actually have a great deal of sympathy for people who fall on hard times and make the difficult choice to rehome their pet to a different situation. And I myself would do anything BUT take a pet to a pound or a shelter. At least in the states, it's pretty much a death sentence to do so in many places (and for the…
...a better question might be how are they not?
It's great that he's fine, but I bring it up because many people think that urinating outside the box is *normal* (meaning normal for assholes, at least.) Cats don't urinate on things to be assholes. Either there's something physically wrong or they're reacting to stress in the environment. When we (meaning all cat…

Urinating on fabric and in other unusual places is very often a symptom of urinary tract disorders or problems like FLUTD (feline lower urinary tract disorder.) It's something that should always be checked out by a vet.

Violence toward the family is wrong. But hate? Hate I'm just fine with.
And this is actually why I don't understand why 'love' is treated as some great thing.
It's funny that you say not to pathologize asexuals while also saying sex is a critical part of ALL relationships. It's a critical part of *most* relationships, I'll grant you that. But saying ALL relationships need to involve sex not only makes it harder for asexuals like myself, it's a pretty damn crappy thing…

Yes, mistreating someone who drove their child to suicide is *exactly* the same as mistreating a trans teen who didn't harm anyone. Just like mistreating an abuser is *exactly* the same as mistreating their victim. I see so many things differently now.
