This is a very interesting take, as a lot of people who do anti-racism work tell white people to find out their ancestral roots as that’s the culture they should be representing (as opposed to cultural appropriation).

Except there are structures that exist in North America that are older than 1776. And to qualify her statements like that is to enable the erasure of Indigenous peoples, as well as pre-Revolutionary War colonialism that engaged in genocide and destruction of Indigenous structures.
