My puzzlement is not that people designed ugly things like this car - after all, someone probably designed the McLaren Senna - but that they found some people to pay them money for the dubious honor of owning one - also like the Senna.

I like the “sculptural” large lights... to a point, namely the one where I have to clean those things.

Thankfully, it doesn’t matter, because their raison d’être never was to be ready and fight-worthy - since no-one is remotely close to threatening America’s military superiority - but to bring a maximum of pork to congresspersons’ homebases, and in that respect, their successes are unarguable.

The Ami and Multipla don’t need to be defended, they stand on their own. The Ami’s profile aspect is groovy and speedy (at least more than its engine), and even Clarkson had to admit the Multipla was the best family car ever.

But Lexus’s are far better-looking, and doesn’t fly in the face of decades of classic grille design which is basically the BMW brand identity.
