Umm, fairytale land must not have gotten the same MR2's. $2k won’t get you a trashed AUTOMATIC first-gen. Casual browsing MR2 listings for a few years lends that $7-9k gets you a nice 2nd gen usually w/o a turbo.

Came here to address that, nicely done. I will add that a rear plate without those holes is a common available part (so as not to let all that heat up into the engine bay) Unsure if these cars were built without heat to begin with, given it’s origins or if this one was just built that way.

Very simple machines really, but yes, you can quite easily sink more than they are worth in them. That metric is slowly changing but still fairly true

I tend to agree, although I live in the south and work on “ferruhn cars”. I struggle to force them to get a part I know I need because it doesn’t match the car and it’s vin tag I am tinkering on.
