Using a system outside of the developer’s intents - especially when they outright state it in a situation like this, is very clear cut from a legal standpoint.

You didn’t really address the key point of his take, which is that the devs have apparently set things up so they can’t fix an issue rapidly
Exploits that are not in active use are lower priority than ones that are. And there are potential bugs more harmful than this too.
Exactly. I like trashing hotel rooms. Why do they keep banning me? Not like they own the room. I paid for it!
Its become more and more clear that all my favorite games and movies also have great soundtracks. Sound design is so important to the overall experience. One of my favorite things about GTA3 was all the dialogue from the citizens of Liberty City, particularly the things the helicopter shouts at you while you attempt…
I mean maybe you aren’t familiar with how coding can be but some stuff is not so easily fixed. Tracking down a cause can take a while and implementing fix that doesn’t further break things takes time. Testing is important especially the deeper the fix.
I’m going to ignore the mechanics of Orbs of Power or whatever (because imo they’re kind of not relevant) and address the philosophical question at the heart of the argument being made here:
Nothing in GTA will be as funny as Fernando.
Bug triage has multiple facets to consider. In this case “# of people affected” was very low, so the devs decided to focus on bugs that were currently affecting lots of people. i.e, the issue was low urgency, but probably high priority due to its effects. Considering how many high urgency bugs we’ve read about this…
I’m not going to echo other responses to this, but it’s worth noting the nuance of the “ban”, which seems to be lost on a lot of people (the author of the article included). Bungie’s community manager is not saying “if you do this, you’ll get banned.” He’s saying “doing this will trigger an error code (like many…
Yea the whole PvP angle completely invalidates any point I might’ve had (acknowledging the fact the whole “crossplay/console players can’t do this” did so already)
There are some things where you know even if there’s no stated law that it’s not the right thing to do. For example, just because you don’t see a speed limit sign next to a school, doesn’t mean you should be driving 120 past it.
“TOS are not actually that enforceable”
A bug this obscure, which involves doing things nobody would do on accident and which until now was not public knowledge, is likely not as highly prioritized as issues affecting people playing the game right this second.
I think because, at the time, it was a super low priority fix. A small handful of players knew about it. And Bungie was doing something about it. But because it wasn’t breaking the came at large, they weren’t finding anyone using it in-game, it was a “no harm, no foul” scenario.
This glitch can absolutely break the game. Orbs provide players their ultimate ability, their “Super.” Which in many cases, is an ability that could allow even the most casual of weekend warriors the ability to wipe an entire opposing fireteam. Oftentimes, silly little glitches that happen are allowed to let slide for…
it’s sorta like the ole children’s cracker jack whistle triggering toll free calling in pay phones thing. First time is an accident, any subsequent time is willful disregard. Just because you are exploiting something for your own benefit that hasn’t been fixed yet and no one is really harmed doesn’t change the fact…
Other bugs in online games can have the effect of breaking entire in game economies. There have been several bugs in the past that have allowed players to duplicate hard to obtain items or gain effectively infinite gold. If only a few players exploit some bug, the situation can often be cleaned up. And this is often…
What station was this on? Feel like I never heard it. Was too busy listening to KILLER BEES MAN on Chatterbox
What is driving me crazy is I can accept a lot of this but them removing lots of content and stuff i have paid for and introducing limited time content I cannot, people starting to play now will likely have lots of story gaps. People defending it to arghhh,
