One of my favorite facts about Saturn’s rings is that one of its small moons, Daphnis, makes waves in the ring as it orbits.
I love the idea of this list, but WALL-E/Eve, Xena/Gabrielle, and Root/Shaw shouldn’t be on here, because they’re romances, and I think those deserve their own list.
If anyone wants more detail on the patent dispute, this article is pretty good, with the addendum that an interference was officially declared last week. In other words, the Patent and Trademark Office is going to have the two parties go head-to-head to determine which of them invented the tech first starting in…
I was on the lighting team for this project. Alan was a lot of fun to work with and a complete gentleman. I think this may be the only highspeed photography of him.
I just watched that movie this past weekend. The scene where one of the aliens, who is anamored with Rickman’s TV persona, is shot, and as he’s dying Rickman recites his famous line promising the kid he will be avenged. Oh the feels! I actually tear up at that scene.
Oh, I forgot Christian Slater!
when I feel like a good cry and emotional overload I watch part 1 & 2 of “In the Shadow of Two Gunmen” and also “Noel” (Josh’s PTSD plus Yo Yo Ma doing his beautiful thang).
Me too! I started around Christmas because I need “In Excelsis Deo” and “Noel” in my life at that time, just like Die Hard.
Me too me too me too me tooooooooooooo.
(even though I know I know, Sorkin wrote women characters problematically. but let’s all take a minute to express our admiration for the goddess Allison Janney.)
When I was about 16, my mother had a massive heart attack, died, was brought back to life by a quick paramedic armed with an AED, and spent 2 weeks in the hospital recuperating. I was a weird, alienated, depressive kid, and having a parent near death wasn’t helping. One of my mother’s nurses took a shine to me, and we…
As a food scientist, I can tell you that sex is extremely important in food preparation. It’s not a matter of gender; it’s entirely biological. A few science facts:
I’ll just be giving them my $11 to pay them back for this
Getting mad about this movie being bad now feels like yelling at a 13 year old kid because her zelda cosplay dress has the wrong pattern. It’s true, but clearly a lot effort and love went into making it.
At this point, if the film sucks, I won’t be even slightly mad, because of the joy this entire promotional campaign is giving me.
The song you posted is actually the original cut of that song from eight years ago. This video went around Facebook a little while ago that explains the whole story. Kind of cool. I don’t mind the song, just hate it was played non fucking stop.
I had an Aunt Flo. No, really - she was my grandma’s sister, an actual person. I didn’t even realize until I was much older than I’d care to admit that when people talked about Aunt Flo, they weren’t talking about...well, my Aunt Flo.
Am I the only woman who doesn’t care about the concept of a spiritual, natural, drug-free, skin-to-skin and breastfeeding-within-the-first-three-seconds-they’re-born type of childbirth? I’m just not interested in having the perfect experience. It’s probably going to be awful no matter what, and optimum bonding and…
It’s not “becoming more common” - it’s standard practice. EBM is the cornerstone of modern medicine. I’ve worked at 4 hospitals, and what this poster describes has held true at all of them. And I’m a pediatrician - it’s not like I particularly like OBs or have a vested interest in defending them.
