There is a Zombie 5k in the US. It started last October in Baltimore, but now there's a bunch of cities!

Me too! Nick at night is such a gateway drug.

I don't even mind the dirty clothes as much, but when we just did laundry and I find his bone in the basket with all the clean socks (that I was about to pair up!) and now I don't have any socks for tomorrow! Grr dog (oh but he is the cutest nutty dog ever!)

That reminds me of when I give my dog a large knotted rawhide. He gnaws at it for a bit and then decides he wants to bury it. So he looks for the usual spots: our dirty clothes, our clean clothes, the bookshelf or DVD case. But if we've done the laundry and the bone is too big for the bookshelf then he starts to

"[Men] are in a total state of confusion… Sensitive males are wary, not knowing where to look."

I love that he said "zed." It makes me very happy :)

Are you honestly saying that stereotypes are never wrong? That everyone fits their stereotype? I've worked in retail/service and I had the opposite reaction. You often could never tell which group might be terrible to serve and which would be awesome.

To be fair, it might matter more to people who have Down Syndrome or parents of kids with Down Syndrome. I noticed right away but I work in the DS field, and people who have DS or are related to people with DS probably also would also likely notice. One of the reasons Noah is being pointed out is because of his dad.

:) no problem, I work on studying the genetics of DS. This article made me so happy I showed it all around the lab.

Just a nitpick, but Down Syndrome is actually Trisomy 21 not T18.

For what it's worth, I wrote to Ellie about rape apologism and rape culture and explaining why her advice was hurtful and bad. She wrote this back:

To be fair, it probably takes you less time since it sounds like you bake a lot. For someone who doesn't bake a lot, and someone who may not enjoy it either, it's likely to take a lot longer. I like baking, but it certainly takes me more than 5 minutes to make the dough, and then there's the clean up factor.

The Dark is Rising series by Susan B. Cooper

To add to this, I really liked Garth Nix's other series, the Keys to the Kingdom series. Nix has a lot of book set at different age ranges (the Seventh Tower series is potentially a little young but also a possibility)

I learned cursive around age 8, and for 4+ years after my handwriting was terrible because I was made to write in cursive for everything and no amount of practice made it better. I was relieved when the ban on printing was lifted. Even now my handwriting is pretty bad. It's not a reflection at all on my teachers,

He makes me cringe too but I think that's because I still associate him with Freaks and Geeks, and his character in that show always weird-ed me out.

This was how my grandmother-in-law was. Sugar and sweets and wine or margarita's for dinner. And she also continued to work ~30 hours a week until she was 91. She passed away recently, but I just remember her as this strong, classy lady who knew what she wanted. And my husband has commented that I'm too much like

Eh, my county had been doing this for decades. Each city would pick either the Friday or Saturday before Halloween for their trick-or-treating day and that's when the kids went out in costumes. I think it's a fine plan, mostly because if you worked it right and had friends in other cities you could go out twice and

My family is the opposite: my brother and I "compete" for being our mom's favorite, while she maintains that she loves us equally. It's a fun joke. One year I took my mom out for lunch for mother's day, then immediately called my brother to let him know that I was now the favorite. So in return he one-upped me by

What did someone mention black dogs? This beautiful 5 year old boy was adopted last January. He's a but nutso, but lovable :)
