"Death to the opposition!"

You might also like Stuart Kaminsky. I was particularly a fan of his "Toby Peters" mysteries. They're all set in the 30s and 40s and typically involve some sort of famous entertainment icon. (Kaminsky was a professor of film at Northwestern.) Marvelous fun.

No, they aren't. (And personally I prefer Matt Smith's current console room to both his previous one as well as the Eccleston/Tennant one.)

IKR? She's practically a Vulcan.

Ironically the one on the right later got surgery to look MORE human. (Well, OK, Bajoran, but Bajoran = human + slight nose ridges. They sure look more human than the picture on the left, anyway.)

This was awesome! Thanks very much for this!

AUGH, WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?

It's in the article.

Spectacular.

Who are you directing this argument at? I don't think anyone is making the statement you have a problem with.

All the stars. You get them all.

Have yet another star for "gripping hand." Man, I loved those books.

There's actually an episode of Doctor Who Confidential that focuses on the Foley artists and what they do. I found it fascinating. It's not the big things so much as the little ones, like rattling a corkscrew to make the noise the Sonic Screwdriver does when handled.

I think the unfortunate reality with animation has been that it ends up being a money-loser. Web has certainly sold VERY well as it was missing until recently, but in general the B&W DVDs don't sell well, and the animation is expensive. (Web has no animation as they wanted to release it ASAP.)

Ridley definitely saw plenty of Doctor Who. In fact, he very nearly was the designer assigned to the second overall story, "The Daleks." (One wonders what Ridley-designed Daleks might have looked like.)

I totally agree. I liked Web of Fear a lot, but Enemy of the World is an all-time great. A stylish political thriller is not something Doctor Who does all that often, but here it's tight and engaging.

The unfortunate truth is that many directors on Doctor Who insisted on over-lighting everything. (The most egregious example being, of course, Warriors of the Deep.)

Well I'd certainly take anything IL says with a grain of salt, but even folks inside the BBC and the Restoration Team have said they believe Phil has more, possibly a LOT more.

The greatest of them all.

Thank you SO MUCH for these! I just love stuff like this in general, and Blake's 7 is almost as big a part of my childhood as Doctor Who.
