There’s zero video evidence that he lost the ball at any point. On the first replay (pre-realization of disgusting injury), they show him on his side and his arm is clearly under the ball. He didn’t let go (to clutch his destroyed leg) until he was basically flat on his back.

Yeah, that was a difficult game to watch.

Best part was the announcing team initially saying “we’re not going to show you that on replay, it was pretty bad,” then showing it 18 times after hearing the TD was reversed.
