Why are they needing to grind, surely all the random battles from the erratic movement means they have had plenty of battles to grind naturally.

I see this being used in conjunction with the Trophy patent Sony took out last year.

Native emulation with up scaled graphics and trophy additions. I could see publishers and developers loving this, saves them having expend money in order to release upscaled old games like they have been.

They patented some form of Trophy software a while back which seemed to allow them to add to previous games without actually having to alter the original coding. I think the plan was to eventually use it with the PSNow service however it could possibly be added to this.
