It depends. I had a 1969 Dodge Power Wagon W100. 383, 4-speed (no overdrive) with 4.10 gears. 55 MPH was close to 3,000 RPM but she wasn’t working hard at all.

I had one in an 1987 Ram with a 360, 70mph was almost 3000 rpm. Not particularly enjoyable for long distance.

That’s why for 2,000 bucks you buy the Lifetime Warranty they offer. Covers practically everything other than bulbs, belts, brakes, tires and batteries. I’m looking to really test this warranty out on my 16MY Ram.
While I’d agree that they have struggled with quality issues, one only needs to look at the evolution of the (Dodge) Ram to see that they used to take risks that EVERYONE else followed.

While I will agree that there were some weird issues with this generation, the drivetrain was rock solid. I bought my 2008 GMC Sierra based off of the number of these trucks I saw in the shop for oil changes with 300k + with no drivetrain issues.
