I just played the game for the first time this month. I never touched any of the FOB stuff and let the auto-assign handle mother base staff. It was pretty fun.

That’s true, and it’ll definitely be remembered that a fad existed of retro-pixel titles, but it doesn’t make sense to me to immediately dismiss any retro-pixel title simply because that’s a fact. In ten years, most people won’t be able to remember 80% of any of the games on Steam right now, fad or none.

I don’t think this is a fair way to make your point. Like 80% of those games nobody has ever heard of, and there’s a bunch of other examples that are only cel-shaded in fact and don’t look at all like what comes to mind when you say “cel-shaded” such as crackdown 2.
