Yeah, you’re supposed to be rooting for the Spartans. The brave all-white nation standing up to the monstrous Persians with their brown skin and androgynous leader. Nothing surprising from the mind of Frank Miller.

This is why I felt kind of gross watching the Snyder cut, even if this particular movie didn’t have a lot of this. There’s also all the homophobia in Dawn of the Dead, 300, and Watchmen.

So because their goal is to make money, they are free from criticism in regards to the methods they use to make that money?

Pokémon 25 has involved a lot of merch and they’re doing a lot with the TCG but very little with actual games. I would love to see a bundle of the classic games released for Switch with Home support instead of having to go through Bank on the 3DS.

Now playing

Karen O’s “I Shall Rise” from Rise of the Tomb Raider was great!

That’s fair. It was a poor choice of words. I mostly used it because WotC is the owner of the final work and they own the character used, not the artist.

They also used a fan render of Mario on the Nintendo World site.

Thank you. I was pretty sure it’s not OK legally, but I couldn’t find a case in my very brief google search for something like this. Though I suppose any cases like this would be settled out of court and confidential. Nintendo has done this twice in the last few months, but I don’t think anything ever happened with it.

How does copyright work when a company steals fan art of a character they own?

Battle Revolution should never have received a full-priced retail release. It was basically a companion app to the DS games. It’s just not a complete game on its own.

I liked Pokémon Colosseum because it showed you can tell more stories in this universe than just some kid wanting to be champion while also stopping a huge crime syndicate on the side. And then they never really did it again after Gale of Darkness.

A lot of people saw classic Pokémon cards blowing up and started buying up everything. Some guy at my local Target even scooped up all their theme decks, which will likely never be worth anything.

I was being a little dramatic. By good ol’ days I meant something like a year ago. Most of the things I was interested in buying then weren’t too hard to get if you tried. It just feels like everything is getting scalped recently. But those are great examples of this sort of always being a problem.

It’s very disheartening to know that so many people turn into cruel assholes when they have anonymity. Like I don’t think anyone I know in person would ever say anything like what’s referenced in the article and yet a lot of people behave this way online.

This happens with any collectible or anything of modest demand now it seems. I remember the good ol’ days of being able to go to a store (or a website) and just buy a thing I want.

Every game starts with a general seizure risk warning to absolve them of any potential issues this causes.

And you can do that too, if you want! But you should take some time to do things that are just fun. It’s a bad idea to deny yourself joy until you get a job. That’s what I did for a while and ended up in a better place mentally once I was able to let that hang up go.

Thank you for this cursed realization.

I hope you can find a support system or professional help. Nobody deserves to feel this way. You are a valuable person and deserve to be happy. I wish you the best.

I’ve played more individual games this past year than ever before yet have finished fewer. My depression got really bad in 2020 and nothing could hold my interest long enough for me to care to see it through.
