Yep, for all the flak he got -whether justified or not-, I don’t think any reasonable F1 fan can deny that the man was extremely effective at what he did.

Not strictly about the looks alone, but I dug out an old comment of mine from 2012 which should suffice:

Are you offering to explain the i8 to me, or was that just sarcasm from beginning to end?

“...the M8 may get either the 4.4-liter twin-turbo S63 V8 from the F90 BMW M5 or the 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V12 from the BMW M760i...”

Hope the fine was substantial. I see this happening everyday and it never becomes any less infuriating.

I reckon it’s between Porsche, Chevrolet, and BMW competing for the biggest troll in the automotive world:

My memory is vague, but I think Schreyer moved on to head all of Hyundai styling. I’m sure he still has a hand in Kia styling, but don’t think it’s anywhere near as hands-on as was the case prior to the new Kia Sportage.

I can’t really argue there. The M1 badge would also make absolutely zero sense in their current model lineup either, and as you said, the original M1 is perfect as is.

I’d love to see the 8 Series return from the dead, even as a 9 Series. I’d also love to see a spiritual successor to the M1, and a new CSL for that matter.

It’s just astounding that it’s 2016, and here is a hypercar concept featuring a nat-asp V12 and more aero than I’d have thought even conceivable for road use until just now (even if the aero isn’t immediately obvious).

I don’t know how wrong I’m going to be about all this, but for some reason I see it playing out as follows:

There aren’t enough “y”, “e”, and “s” keys on every keyboard ever made for me to properly convey just how much I agree with your sentiment. The mid to late ‘90s was just tremendous as far as endurance racing goes.

Your take on it is interesting. From another perspective, I’ve just followed F1 and the odd DTM and Aussie V8s most of my life, then caught a NASCAR race a few weeks back for the first time. In my case, the NASCAR race managed to grab my attention for the entirety of the time I watched it.

Watched this race for 30 or so laps, and I have to say, I get it now. It’s been one of the most entertaining races I’ve ever seen.

I remember once engaging in an online debate with this one guy who argued that the Aston Martin DB9 of the same age was more beautiful than the 8C, while I insisted that the 8C was the more beautiful machine.

Also, any possibility I can get ungreyed?

The new Topgear is starting to resemble 5th Gear where there are presenters up the wazoo. I’m a bit concerned it’s going to make it very difficult for casual viewers to really connect with any one presenter.

Absolute gimmick. It’s a nice technology, but it belongs in a home or office, not in a car.

I understand your reasoning, but I kind of think that a company would see things differently. Instead of introducing a crazy next-gen Z4, what’s to stop them from making that FWD too (because volume)?

Wouldn’t call it the greatest, but definitely one of the more crazy ones out there: Norton Nemesis.
