I remember AC... 3 (I think?) there was the counter-system where a well timed push of a button directly executed a devastating counter, and you could be swarmed by attackers, and just pressing the counter button at the right moment would lead to stringing together devastating counters. That was fun, though a bit

I dutifully scrolled down before making the same comment, because it seemed like the single most obvious thing in the world to me, and I knew I couldn’t be the first.

I am playing a little known indie title called “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla”. I’ve played nearly all of the Assassin’s Creed’s titles dating back to the original, and I think they’ve finally nailed the alchemy of keeping good from the old, adding something new that’s also good, and dropping the bads”.

But not quite as good bang for buck, and not nearly as accessible for someone who doesn’t game a lot. I am a converted Xbox—>PC gamer, and although there are many things I prefer about PC gaming, plopping onto a couch with a controller remains a uniquely casual and easy way to play games. Apart from the basic hardware

Or a Series S, if you don’t have any use for 4k graphics and won’t miss the disc drive. I think that thing is basically tailor-made for someone who doesn’t own an Xbox One, and is looking more to be able access the Microsoft game ecosystem than to be wowed with a graphical upgrade. It’s very good value for the quality

It has its ups and its downs. The most engaging/insightful interviews listen to the answers of the person who’s being interviewed, and react in a direction that the interviewee seems to have interesting things to say. The long-form interview format popularized by podcasts is uniquely good at this (in the hands of a

Trebeck hosted 3 gameshows at one point in the 90s. It’s not the most time consuming of gigs.

Even if it’s objectively true that some seasons of DS9 or TNG were more enjoyable than new Discovery (and I will say, there was a seeming ease with which those shows drew you in and captivated you with their week-to-week episodes), I think it’s important to remember that if you made that exact same show again today it

A frustration I had last season was that they shoehorned in L’Rell and Ash Tyler into the plot, in a way that felt very forced and unnecessary. The actors who play those characters are very cool and wonderful people (Mary Chieffo especially, she genuinely could not be more awesome) and I think there was some

I don’t remember Beverly being “disgusted”. She definitely struggled with the gender flip, but she made an effort to look past it, and just couldn’t. I don’t think that’s “homophobic”, she’s just a heterosexual character. It was a relationship built on physical attraction from the get-go, and she’s not attracted to

I was extremely impressed with the acting, particularly the actor who plays Adira—the emotion of those scenes came through so clearly in their face. It’s a character who was initially drawn as somewhat annoying, but there is a real spark of charisma in the performance.

I sincerely pity anyone whose enjoyment of the episode was diminished by Saru/Burnham having some familiarity with Trill symbionts, even though it was a surprise to Crusher in a mediocre episode of TNG 30 years ago. I am a huge TNG nerd, but DS9 occupies the field for me when it comes to Trill backstory. And seeing

I’m curious whether it will be available for rent at normal rates, or if it will get the Mulan treatment and still cost an arm and a leg for a while.

A 1-year extension—only two months before the new year begins—does not seem like all that much of a vote of confidence. It’s relatively short-term, for an 11:35 slot late show. Doing a search, Colbert got a three-year extension to 2023, nine months before his contract would have otherwise expired.

They didn’t really commit to those sprays being fatal. I mean, why spray at all if it isn’t harmful? But we could have at least heard a sizzle -- and then at the end Mando emerges covered in stomach goop, but no worse for wear.

While it has been “2 episodes” since Burnham was last with the crew, I had no trouble feeling the emotion of the reunion, because it’s been eighteen months in the real world since the season 2 finale aired. Eighteen months that have not exactly flown by.

I think the problem with Wesley was that TNG was not self-aware of how annoying a smug child prodigy is. Other than a memorable exception (“SHUT UP WESLEY”), he was sincerely put forward as a “chosen one” with whom younger viewers were meant to identify. It was TNG trying to be a family show.

I haven’t watched Enterprise since it originally aired on UPN, and my interest fizzled out around the second season. I will eventually watch it from the beginning again, and expect I will find some things in it that I enjoy—but in its time, it was a disappointment. And I say that as someone who was wildly excited for

Handlen would have hated it, anyways.

Hollywood star” would have been a better choice of words. It’s what I meant.
