I tried liking your post and it subtracted a star. I clicked again thinking it would toggle and undo, and instead it subtracted another star.

The subtext of my comment was that I don’t believe budget was the reason Fuller left American Gods. He gave every indication that it was a passion project for him, and every single project he’s ever done has been on a shoestring budget. Particularly on the heels of how things ended with Discovery, I just don’t buy it.

I totally missed the story from November that Fuller was done with American Gods. Anderson had about 90 seconds of screen time in the first season, so this isn’t exactly on par with her departure from X-Files, in which she’s co-starred in 217 hour-long episodes, and two feature-length films.

I remember this as well - Hawley saying at some point that he didn’t have any ideas for another season, and not being at all sure that there would be one. Hawley now being quoted as saying he has an “exciting idea” is... exciting. Even more so because we now know he wouldn’t blow smoke up our ass if he didn’t have one.

I think you can safely assume Wolff, a publicity-whore prone to exaggeration and gossip, who had actual access to the White House, is telling us the worst possible version of this story (at least as far as year 1 - goes nothing to say it won’t get worse).

I’ve always been more of a Mulder fan than a Scully fan, but they do play off of each other really well. I really doubt that X-Files would suffer without Chris Carter at the helm, but I assume that Duchovny wouldn’t stay on board either, even if a new showrunner lined up to do it.

Is this a substitute for “Best of” or a supplement?

It occurs to me that Peyton Manning has wisely stayed below the radar over the last year, all the better to prevent people from remembering that he has a history of sexual assault and - no less embarrassing - a major business partnership with Papa John’s.

Rotten Tomatoes actually reports an “average” score, very similar to Meta-critic, but it’s subtly placed (and actually doesn’t load at all on the mobile version of the site - but I swear, it’s there).

It seems like the Star Wars directors are conscious about the fact that other people are going to try and tell stories in the same universe. Once you declare what’s happed to a beloved character from the original trilogy, it greatly limits the options of another director who might tell a more substantial story with

The casino stuff didn’t work for me either - it had a side-mission feel that I think contributed to my impression of the movie as narratively and emotionally jumbled. But I wouldn’t parallel it to the political drama from the prequels, because there was at least some purpose behind it. It was meant to be allegorical

Wasn’t it a choice of like 3 different endings?

Somebody didn’t read the A.V. Club’s Star Wars style guide.

You entirely changed your comment after I replied, so I’ll just assume you finished reading the article.

Yes, we were talking about slightly different things, but with the common underlying theme that Karen Gillan’s #1 claim to fame - especially for regulars of this site - is Doctor Who. I knew I couldn’t have been the first person to have that thought, and searched for a place to put my comment that wouldn’t be

...You did finish reading the article, right?

As this is an (increasingly rare) instance of the AV Club actually reporting on dork squad subject matter, it doesn’t bother me as much as some of the other petitions that have received coverage.

No kidding. How did the swiftly canceled “Selfies” earn a “you know me from” before a world-famous sci-fi institution on which she co-starred for years.

Fact check: Mueller was not appointed by Sessions. Sessions recused himself and then Mueller was appointed by Rosenstein

I want a Voyages of the Mimi reboot. Ben Affect is done with the Bat right? He’s looking for work. It just makes sense!
