I work for Macys Credit. While the retail side is getting all the news about 500 people just got a pink slip from my office alone. A few years ago we had over 2k people working in my building now there’s just a few hundred left.

The Sears at our local mall is one of those being closed, which will basically kill traffic to about 1/3 of the building. The local economy here is largely service based, so this is just terrible all around. Hopefully someone decides to fill the space.

I too love to go shopping. So this makes me so sad. Macy’s is the the “highest scale” department store where I live and I love it. If my Macy’s goes out of business I will only have Kohl’s and Penney’s (which I loathe) to shop at. I don’t want to buy clothes on-line.
