Yet the screenshot isn’t from the original movie. I think it’s from the 3rd movie which is part of the SAC universe.

Haven’t started this season yet, but is it worth it? The article and comments aren’t encouraging.
In fact, it seems we take the abuse of men far more seriously than that of women, since as we see here, they are routinely belittled, insulted, or dismissed. What it says is that we still value men’s experiences over women’s (read that on FB).
I just get that icky feeling when I see the comments that there’s a difference between rumor and allegation (of course there is) when it came to LCK (or like ol’ Harvey), but with Kevin Spacey, those rumors weren’t doubted or scrutinized in the same aggressive and dismissive manner.
And engaging in a war on poor black communities. Thanks CIA!
So I’m watching the Handmaiden’s Tale, and there’s a flashback scene (sort of a spoiler, but not necessary to the plot) where they’re talking about having to round up the remaining fertile women in order to keep the human race alive. And I was like, if that’s what you gotta do to let the human race survive, we’re…
Sorry to hear about that. While I’m talking about it from a general societal and historical perspective, I hope I didn’t minimize or dismiss your experiences by doing that.
Oh agreed, social class, race, sexuality and religion play a role in the influences of toxic and violent behaviors, but many of those like religion, social class and race (and sexuality too) reinforce typical gender norms and behaviors since those very structures not just influence them, but some created/perpetuated…
Absolutely, and much of it is due to conventional gender roles. Thankfully that’s changing more and more, but that’s a big reason to why women grow up compliant and non-aggressive (or even non-assertive in some cases/cultures). Men are taught to be compliant as well, but are still taught to be aggressive, so you get…
People put up with all kinds of shit, a lot of the times simply because they don’t want to make a big deal out of things even if it makes them uncomfortable. Why? A lot of it is because society has conditioned us to be compliant and cooperative (women especially). We don’t want to be seen or labeled as “difficult”.
“It’s almost as if he was an older, more powerful individual who had the ability to destroy her career for the rest of her life whom she didn’t feel she could say no to, and every woman in Western society is conditioned from birth to accept this kind of behavior and blame themselves for it.”
“Do four puffs of the Farrah Fawcett spray.”
What false equivalency/strawman nonsense did I just read??!!
Super glad I dropped this, but I will stop by just to skim the recaps!
The moral of the story for all of this is we are all complicit in some way in all of this since this is so widespread in all industries and all of society, it’s just that many of us, if not most, just chose to look away, deny, or ignore it for so long. Almost no one can claim not to have dirt on their hands in some…
Well I finally found it, the comment that tries to defend this behavior. I wonder why it took so long for someone to try and defend this shit. Cynically, I think it’s simply because it’s not between a man and a woman, so there’s just no one waiting to use “she was asking for it/what was she wearing/furthering her…
“Your poor grasp of logic means that because I call this prostitute what she is...”
You people forget/don’t understand the power and influence of structural violence. When your career is in jeopardy, it places so much stress on your life because the ability to make money to survive is at stake. And for many people the fear is that you may in fact become homeless or enter a cycle of inescapable…
People like Weinstein need the Lisbeth Salander treatment (if not worse).
Just dropped by to see what happened, and it doesn’t feel like much. Glad I finally dropped this.
