Madison’s Halloween is undeniably the worst of the drinking in the whole of the state for the whole of the year, at least.

Your life isn’t a romantic comedy, this isn’t a quirky musical, SHUT UP.

The history of Shirley Cards and skin tone in photography is so weird and interesting. And I like this, from the guy interviewed about choosing to introduce darker skin tones:

Hasn’t this been solved like 15 times? I feel like I’ve heard of this before today.

What’s the point if there’s no Felicity? SERIOUSLY.

According to the Indiegogo site, $500 sends 1 girl to summer camp. 100k could pay for 200 girls. A quick (and possibly inaccurate) Google search tells me that an estimated .3% of the population is trans in some way. That means we’re at just over half a girl at summer camp likely being trans. And considering that not

Plenty of kids know very early on exactly who they are. They might not be at the point of having an intellectual debate with you about the nuances of gender identity in our society, but there most certainly are girls who were assigned male at birth who know they’re girls. And maybe if we listened to kids when they

Exactly - what a weird “gift”. Makes my skin crawl.

someone please draw this for me

What the actual hell is this shit? Yeah, I didn’t get that, either.

I’m going to mark my calendar, and think back smugly to this very article when we’re there.

What is with all the speculation about the permanence of someone’s sexual preferences? Who fucking cares? What if she dates women forever, and eventually marries one? Great! What if she breaks up with Annie, meets a nice man, and gets married? Terrific - that doesn’t mean her sexuality was a “phase” or that she was

Where did I ever advocate for demonizing and attacking people en masse? I didn’t. Up thread, MegSwan said that what they were doing wasn’t racist, I assume, because she didn’t think it was as severe as what she considers to be racist. I pointed out that it was still rooted in racism, even if it wasn’t “root of all

Ha - I live in Milwaukee, and just yesterday had a guy follow me around inside a liquor store, corner me, say a bunch of weird stuff about what kind of a guy he apparently is, and then comment on my wedding ring and say he’s not trying to move in on my husband’s territory or anything, buuuut.... *eyeroll*

Hmm, good point. I’ll use the phone tree to call off the social justice warriors and tell everyone to please just be nice to white people for a change. Please, tell me more about how we can make racial equality easier for white people.

This. “I love my boyfriend, even though he’s black” is a lot different than “I love my boyfriend. He’s such a great cook!”

white people are too delicate to have their racist actions labeled as racist. Please - think of the white people. /sarcasm

...people are afraid to talk about race because I want to acknowledge a wide spectrum of racist behavior, and recognize that you can do some kind of racist things without being completely evil? You have a very severe perception of racism. and maybe have a little more thinking to do on the topic.

If someone says something insensitive about race, then yes, they are racist. But that means that we all have an opportunity to evaluate our actions and try to be better allies.
