The NRA is a PAC for gun manufacturers. They don’t actually give two shits about their members. They exist solely as a front to funnel money into politics.

As a gun owner, the most frustrating thing to me is the fact that there is no middle ground. And the NRA makes the rhetoric around it such a fucking hyperbole. We can enact realistic rules around guns. We do it with almost everything else… Its not EITHER WE ALL HAVE ALL THE GUNS or NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO HAVE ANY GUNS…
See you there!
I’m scared too. I’m going.
The last time a kindergartener brought a gun to school, he shot a little girl because he didn’t like her.
They want us to be scared. That’s their whole point.
Traded my NRA card for an ACLU one the moment Trump was elected.
The general public’s cognitive dissonance over the NRA is staggering. The fact that not only was there no meaningful discussion or reform after 20 children were shot to actual pieces means nothing will change in our lifetime.
This was my mom’s approach to dinner (I am one of many children, but we were all close in age) My dad would come home from work around 5:30. He was a land surveyor and his job was very physically demanding, so he would come home starving. She cooked dinner for him, and we all ate when he got home. There were no wars…
It’s not wrong, it just means you enjoy complying with misogynist expectations.
I definitely wasn’t saying don’t do what you want. I’m just saying that it contributes to making those standards so don’t pretend it is just a case of you doing you. My ideal would be a world where we stop making fun of people who steps outside the bounds (men in skirts, man buns, unshaven legs on women, facial hair…
Your approach to this discussion speaks volumes about you. Each argument is a detailed justification for the choices YOU make without applying empathy, just sweeping generalisations about humans. I’m fine with my choices, which do not involve preening for men as though my life depends on it, and then swearing it was…
A-OK. At some point the current beauty requirements will be looked at the way we view corsets (you a fan?) and foot-binding now. Go ahead and have fun with it. I chimed in because that was supposedly the topic of discussion. I don’t need to be told most women disagree with me because I have eyeballs.
Oh thanks, I was waiting for permission:) also, if women want to pretend they love how high heels make them feel, then get angry with me for challenging the source of their “pleasure” that’s just more proof the brainwashing is working. Tell me all the ways your blisters, corns and hammer toes are making you feel sexy.
Yeah, while women are discussing whether their desire for butt injections is right or not, men are busy dominating us in every field. Seems like a worthwhile endeavour! /s
I wish more people would acknowledge that following gendered beauty norms DOES in fact affect everyone. You are adding your voice to the chorus that says “I think it should be this way”. If half the woman stopped shaving their legs tomorrow how many more women would feel like they could do the same. I just wish…
Social forces are exactly what cause the “delight” and “radiance” some women feel when they bind their feet, inject their faces or apply chemicals and lasers here there and everywhere. I don’t feel that bad about criticising the individual for not having the awareness to see why this self-inflicted…
Maybe my comment came across a bit aggressive, I wouldn’t go out of my way to criticize someone for having stuff done. There is also a huge difference between e.g. telling someone they look horrendous and are letting down other women by getting lip injections, and having a conversation about why they are choosing to…
I do think this is something where measured judgment is appropriate. And I think it’s important to consider the extent to which women alter themselves and the pressures that puts on other women. Shaving your legs is a lot different than lip injections. But if everyone starts to do lip injections, it will become a…
“Of course we can’t judge. If you choose to do it (unlike your lover’s stitch!), and it makes you happy, go for it.”
