All I know about marching bands is that in high school the Band Kids were considered nerds and losers, yet they were the happiest bunch of kids in the place, with the possible exception of the theatre kids (lot of crossover there).

I have never seen Always, but I'm very skeptical that it is Spielberg's "worst movie," because I have seen 1941.

Nuh-uh, was not, it had some hysterical bits, and is entirely redeemed by the Slim Whitman ex machina ending.

Luc Besson's movies are not always very good, but I am always entertained and have a great time. I do not apologize for loving The Fifth Element. I will probably get a big kick out of this.

God, even the recaps of this show are frustrating and annoying. I bailed two episodes into last season because IDIOCY—and it sounds like they've just doubled down on the idiocy.
I feel bad for the cast, who are actually pretty good overall.

Have you seen him in Exorcist III? Man gave me nightmares.

I have read/heard repeatedly over the years that hippos kill more humans than any other species on the planet.
That's pretty impressive when you think of all the venomous snakes and shit out there.
P.S. I am sorry about your wife's professor's leg.

I don't know who the fuck you are, sir or madam, but the way your mind works fascinates me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter, blog and/or periodic unwashed rant in a public space.

If you really want to avoid pink slime, floor sweepings, lips, bone crumbs, etc., bookmark these two links. They are long but worth reading.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I have to caution you about this: Once you find the right mix of beef,* you will never be able to stomach store-ground hamburger again. Jesus Christ fresh ground hamburger is SO. FUCKING. GOOD. I am now pretty much a slave to my stand mixer with grinder attachment. I spend every few weekend afternoons standing

Can you share? I would love to know.

I wouldn't deliberately spoil it for you, but sooner or later you know you're gonna read it for yourself.
Speaking strictly for myself, I found the coda—not satisfying, exactly, but appropriate; and I made peace with it.
I'd been following the damn story for twenty years plus at that point, so I suppose any ending was

I am not particularly chuffed for this movie as a story.
But I will see it for McConaughey, because he's truly great when he wants to be; and for Elba, because he's truly great, period.
And I think Elba's voice reciting the Gunslingers' Lesson is going to give me chills for as long as I live.

There's a kid in the books, but he ain't plucky.

What a waste of everyone's time that movie was.

"Street," heh.

If you pop into an HEB grocery store (and possibly other chains, IDK) while you're down here, you can now buy it in bottles!

I've been exiled in TX for over twenty years and I share your contempt for sweet BBQ sauces.
Down here they mix ketchup with maple syrup or honey (or both) and then ruin perfectly good smoked meat with it, and think it's gourmet.
