The beginning of Quantum of Solace in Mexico City is an incredible action sequence. The rest of the movie, not so much.

Don’t ever fookin call me English again ... and then the confused look on the General’s face. Perfect.

I responded to the original post, but as someone who is actually from WV, my hackles were raised when she said her uncle would bring her “ramp mushrooms”. There are ramps, which are wild onions that taste of garlic, and mushrooms, which are mushrooms. These things are not the same, and anyone from WV would know the

Great story. The only thing that’s giving me - someone from WV - pause is that there is no such thing as ramp mushrooms. You’ve got ramps, and you’ve got mushrooms, but they are very different things. I imagine anyone from WV is going to read this story and think the same thing.

I love everything I’ve read by him except For Whom the Bell Tolls.

That’s ... wonderful.

Why did the Russian run from the US facility after attacking Hopper? That one has definitely been bugging me too. Why didn’t the guy just kill Hopper? Was he trying to send a message? Why was he even at the facility anyway? Nothing about that scene makes sense.

I love that I got an answer to this.  Sometimes the Internet is great.

Oh I am HERE for a covered bridge thread. Allow me to present my favorite covered bridge, the Philippi Covered Bridge, the only covered bridge that serves the U.S. federal highway system (somehow, according to Wikipedia).

This recipe is specifically for a version that has no tomatoes. Much is made in the text of this fact.

Khalil Mack made Jared Goff look like he was still playing for Jeff Fisher.

You’re right, but I still think that helps make the case that Brees’ numbers are inflated because he’s had to overcome poor defenses with his offense. The lack of an effective run game prior to Ingram/Kamara also played into that. Brady and the Pats have almost always had effective runners, even if they were largely no

I had a rough night, and I hate the fucking Eagles, man.

You’ve clearly got an ax to grind, and while there are some definitions of Appalachia that include the regions of Georgia and Alabama that were the homes of most of the tribes involved in the Trail of Tears, there are also plenty of Appalachians - including me - who would take some umbrage in being lumped in with

It’s perfectly in line with historical trends that the guy who became the “Voice of Appalachia” isn’t actually from Appalachia.  If only the New York Times could send another journalist to tell us about ourselves in a condescending puff piece.

I’m going to do you a favor and provide a few links to some of the things I am certain she’s referring to, and try not to tell me that it doesn’t sound a whole lot like imperialism regardless of whether it’s in another country or not:

It sure is.
