there are several dozen solar power plants within 20 miles of me here in NH. many of them over 100 acres in size. they all have room between the rows for maintenance access where grass grows (and it even grows under the panels), for example this one:

have you ever seen a solar power plant not in the desert southwest?  lots of grass that needs to be mowed or otherwise managed.  solar plants never completely shade the ground due to the need for there to be distance between the rows for maintenance vehicles.
