the US has plenty of lithium and other rare earths, they are just in the ground and current commodity pricing of those materials (due to china flooding the market at below cost prices) means it isn’t “economically viable” to extract them and refine them in the US.

they are required under F1 rules to keep the garage door open and not use “privacy panels” to obscure the view of people authorized to be in pit lane.  even the lining up team members to block the view of “outsiders” is a grey area as if they did that and prevented an FIA official from seeing what they were doing it

don’t forget the party of unfettered capitalism and free trade.

of course they would. all the teams have their own photographers doing exactly this (with strict FIA imposed limits on 3d cameras)

but the teams should have no say in what the press can photograph and the press should be busting their ass to get good photos.

they pretty much do.  Lewis spent a good 15 minutes eyeballing the red bull and if he’s doing it, you know the engineers are and they have team photographers who’s only job is to take 10,000,000 photos of the other team’s cars

yes, but the press guys, not affiliated with the teams should be photographing the shit out of everything that comes out of a garage.

I am constantly amazed at the low quantity of photos in the F1 press, even in technical articles talking about what the engineers are trying to do with the air.

how is it that Kia dealers have an almost universally terrible reputation for shitty sales tactics?

I mean, basically all dealers are fucking horrible, but it seems that Kia dealers are next level.

what gives?

meh, convict them then sue them for remuneration of costs incurred.

administrative asset forfeiture is bullshit no matter who/what it is applied to.

there isn’t a “self driving” system in the world that can handle that.

6 lanes worth of pavement all covered in 2" of slush with 2 lanes full of parked cars, no lane markings visible, yadda yadda.

wait, this show still exists?

andy sipowicz, NYPD Blue. hands down.

that whole show from scene 1 episode 1 to the final scene was basically “the redemption of Andy Sipowicz in 400 acts”

wow, you are dumb. Atlanta, DC, Philly could all do it easily. Denver could do it,

DC, take the federal district between the river and the back side of the capitol and E-H street and make it pedestrian only. increase the number and frequency of busses and routes.

Philly race street to lombard between the rivers.

Atlanta

exactly.

That is 1 street that is less than 1/4 mile long. imagine for a moment how much nicer the north end would be if the whole thing were pedestrian only (or at least everything inside cross street and commercial street)

so it was pure incompetence on the part of the police I guess.  shocking.

what are you smoking? because you are speaking gibberish.

they don’t seem to have an issue with this in europe, where it is common. and yeah, no they don’t get to park and idle (there are already laws about that in many places), they get to leave..

yes.  there needs to be a corresponding expansion of public transit any time something like this is enacted.

and if a law banning vehicles in the city core between 6 am and midnight were in place, the cops would have had a clear basis for arresting all the drivers and impounding their trucks.

as it was there was no clear law saying they couldn’t do what they were doing.
