here’s the problem - there is nothing new or shocking left to do really.

the Valkyrie is the only truly original supercar in the last ~10-15 years. everything else is highly derivative.

the last car new supercar that truly broke design ground was the Pagani Zonda.

and it is really only a virtual atkinson cycle. true atkinson cycle requires an offset crankshaft, lever shaft and a second set of conrods which is more expensive to make, results in a physically larger/heavier engine and more things to break.

raw gasoline.  not so much a global warming issue, but a huuuuge air quality and smog issue.

with PZEV cars over the life of the car more hydrocarbon emissions come from pumping gas than the tailpipe.

modern F1 engines are using an updated CVCC type concept (and have been since Merc settled on it in year 1 of the turbo hybrid era)

they play some interesting games with the fuel injectors due to the requirement of a single injector per cylinder (supposedly to contain cost, but it would have been massively cheaper to

ulating the gearbox is a good first step.

had he had AAA premium (as I do) the first 100 miles of the tow would have been free, and he would have been able to rent a car and AAA would reimburse him.

the problem with the current US car market is that it is driven by dealers ordering what is going to move off their lot reliably and as quickly as possible.

it isn’t that people don’t want 3 door hatches, it is that they don’t sell as quickly as 5 doors. it isn’t that people don’t want compact cars, it is that compact

friend of mine did almost exactly this with his Ram (by Fiat) ProMaster City (aka Transit Connect Clone)

dude, he was sitting on the couch eating ice cream.

she could have backed up pulling the door closed behind her and called 911.

instead she murdered a black man in his own home and tried to put the blame on him.  fuck her.

I wanted to like this movie, I really did. I enjoyed BoP.

but it seemed to just be a largely plot and character development free nonstop attempt to make each scene gorier than the last. the bad guys were cardboard cutouts of bad guy tropes, Cena and Elba were flat and uninteresting.

polkadot man and ratgirl were ok,

I think the only good drivers are metro NYC drivers. they are 100% reliable and predictable in that they will _always_ fuck you, they will _always_ take an open gap, they will _always_ take the intersection if you hesitate, they will _never_ _let_ you merge, you have to take it.  predictability is good, predictability

That is clearly a picture of Uncle Cliff. why aren’t you showing a picture of Chris?

nobody gets off the highway to get gas, very few get off for food.  nor would you know without doing research which exits would have a charger near by so any charger not on the highway is functionally useless.

of course he would. he won the race and his main rival scored no points. he received no meaningful punishment.

should have been a 10 second stop and go at a minimum.

I’m sorry, but pretending a model 3 is in any way comparable to a 3 series other than 4 wheels is a sad joke, and I hate modern BMWs.

as an example of how useless the current charging infrastructure is:

in Nashua, the second largest city in NH, there exactly 1 CCS charging point with 1 plug. there is another one across the river in a neighboring town and 1 south of the border at the mall, so 3 charging points within 10 miles of me.

not exactly

oooh! are we playing Buzzword Bingo?  I select Agile, Disruptive and lower case e

so: spend $5-15K extra on the car up front, pay an electrician another $1000 labor to install a $500 charging station, and for all that I get a car that is still less convenient and capable when compared to a gas car.

where do I (not) sign?

for multi-car homeowning families in an urban or suburban setting, having one of

saves me $700/year in fuel, while costing me $5-15k more to buy up front.

otherwise we (mostly) agree.
