I also knew a kid who got a brand new woody Jeep Wagoneer, his brother got an Audi 4000 Quattro, a couple kids got mercs or dad’s old bmw 320i (e22 gen).

honestly, the poor kids cars were much cooler - a ‘71 cuda 340, ‘67 fastback mustang with the straight 6 and a 3 speed stick, several bugs, a ‘74 Caddy deVille with

having grown up in a town full of rich people in the 80's (and near NYC), there were a lot of kids who got Z28s and Trans Ams on their 16th birthday (often before they even had a license). many of them were totaled before their 17th.

I grew up in the school district where Sung Myung Moon’s family lived, and his son

you are just trying to get a free trip around the world.

I have that same nailer, except I got it for $19.99 along with the $59 compressor.  works fantastically well (especially considering the price)

so the takeaway here is

step 1: deet the hell out of your lights
step 2: rinse well
step 3: wash thoroughly with a citric acid based cleaner to remove any residue

you must have smelled poor.

and of course the other po-po just stood there and watched while this guy decided to beat up a completely innocent man.

that’s a good look.  they should all lose their jobs and be charged with accessory.

Hamilton knew he wasn’t going to make the corner. he is one of the top 5 F1 drivers ever, he knew what he was doing and the likely outcomes..

he knew he wasn’t going to make it, and knew as long as he touched wheel to wheel he was likely to come out with a broken wing at worst and Verstappen would be in the gravel at a

curious: do you think Aston Martin needs an “entry level car” to “build a customer base for the future”? what about Porsche, Bentley, Rolls?

because that is basically the market position Harley has staked out - high end aspirational dream bike, not all things to all people bikes.

much like Porsche says “the entry level

on the daily I see open side flatbed semi trucks loaded up with granite curbstones (popular up here in new england) on their way from the quarry to some nearby town. the curbstones, which are about 6' x 2' x 6" are just set on the flatbed lengthwise in rows about 6" apart standing on their thin edge, then just one or

all that money on mechanicals and paint, but didn’t fix the rust, the clean but completely worn out upholstery or the sticker infested dash...

+points for the stick, -points for not taking the opportunity to drop in a Subie turbo when doing the engine swap (which would probably have been cheaper)

that top picture in blue looks just like an early version of this bike.

overall I like the looks of this bike, but a few things really would improve it.

the exhaust pipes ahead of the mufflers take up too much visual space and obscure the engine too much. slim down the headers and the heat shields.

the chin spoiler/belly pan also take up too much visual space, making the whole bike look

is the engine a camshaft change from the Pan Am or just electronics? without a cam change from the Pan Am, I would expect poor low end torque and artificially restricted top end power (given the power numbers advertized). the powerband works on an ADV bike, but for a stoplight/backroad cruiser, you want low end torque

@Jason - you are missing one critical problem - when you open the capsule door, Wally Funk will climb out and hand you your ass.

there is a 14' 5" clearance sign just before Roosevelt Circle when you are heading northbound (as this truck was), 14' 1" southbound, so close, but not a problem for normal Semis.

pretty sure that is a gravel or sand hopper for a concrete plant.

Boston is a warren of low clearance bridges, generally very well marked for just the reasons mentioned in the article.

this was clearly an oversize load both in width and height, why the truck didn’t have an escort vehicle is beyond me. OTOH, that trucking company better have damn good insurance, because you better

1966 Triumph Spitfire - it was supposed to be my first car. Dad wanted to buy me a non-running car for us to fix up together and to be my car when I turned 16. I found one in not running but very fixable shape, that came with an entire parts car as a bonus, negotiated the price to $600 (1982/3 timeframe) which was

the “drooping headliner” actually appears to be caused by the mounting plate for the sunshade detaching from the roof panel.

and the visible dragon skin look is almost certainly due to the guy waxing his plastic hardtop then leaving it out in the sun. if there is any variability in surface texture (even if not normally
