The audience at my cinema for Crystal skull went nuts for those big moments. It was a huge crowd pleaser, at least for that audience. I had so much fun in it, despite having some misgivings about it.

How do those references break the fourth wall? I saw all the movies wildly out of order as a kid, and they mostly serve as a reminder that the character is a human being with a past and a backstory, and in context reinforce that all of these actors are playing the same character.

Crystal Skull did $300 million domestic in 2008 — it made about the same as Iron Man — so I’d say there was a fair amount of demand there. It certainly wasn’t because there was wildly positive buzz about the movie (though I do think the “people hate this one” generalization is a total internet-era exaggeration).

thanks for this; Raiders is obviously something special on its own, but Crusade feels like a slightly more polished, roller-coaster version of the same and I love it. 

The reason for that opening at Tracy’s grave in For Your Eyes Only is that Moore initially wanted to retire after Moonraker, so they wanted the next actor to get an introduction tied into the franchise’s past. Then he decided to stick around, so it’s just kind of pointless.

I definitely end up discussing less with people on shows that are binge dropped. You never know where people are so it makes discussing certain things difficult because you’re always doing that dance of “Have you seen this yet? Wait, no, don’t tell me!” And by the time everyone has caught up, the moment has passed and…

i loved it too. LOVED it. can still quote it. it was so unashamedly corny. i think if i was in the audience that night, i’d have been the only person besides Will Farrell that got it and would laugh at it. i think the sketch is so ridiculous it borders on sublime.

I love how Ferrell underplays, very unlike his normal performance style. This was actually better than 80% of the sketches from the current season, sadly.
