So “mansplaining” now means anyone who happens to be male explaining anything to anyone who happens to be female?

Thank you for showing me that!
He was essentially asked to play the same character in real life, in that he was years younger than his costars and was made to play the ‘nerd’. Obviously he had his transgressions as an adult, but imagine the alienation that must have caused. It’s sad that he seemed very close to making amends with the whole thing.
So…
This is really sad news. Not just because he was so young - and Jesus Christ, he was - but because he clearly had a difficult life and was trying to make amends with it, and seemed well on his way to doing that. RIP
I misunderstood the original post is all. Happy to hear.
Ah, thanks! And yes, it’s a relief to know Aragorn is not a Trumper..
Not to mention the salutory head-butts from every single Orc actor. That’s not even solidarity. That’s just insane.
While I’m (genuinely) saddened to hear that Viggo Mortensen is of the MAGA variety, and I certainly mean no disrespect to your personal experiences, is it not at least a step in the right direction that he’s willing to play a sympathetic gay man in a film that criticizes homophobia?
Loathe is too strong for me, since they occupy that slice of early teenage years. I had to look up the song, but ‘First Time’ actually holds up surprisingly well, at least to me, and was on my first mix CD, and even though I’m not a fan, I’ll give a pass to the 48-minute song ‘One Thing’, since people seem to like it,…
Finger Eleven. To quote from hazy memory, their explanation at the time (why, yes, I’m Canadian and born in the ‘80s) it’s “neither a reference to your dick or a triumphant ‘fuck you’ to the world, but that invisible finger that points you in the right direction.” Rainbow Butt Monkeys, to same hazy memory, were just…
Bad band name survives bad band name when band is good.
Little late to the party, here, but I just finished S2, and I completely agree. Aside from the things already mentioned here, one thing I can’t get past is: *spoilers, I guess?* Why was Bobby Dassey not charged separately for what was on his computer? Child porn is not ‘suspicious’, it’s a crime in and of itself. I…
Funny, my roommate and I were just comparing Jane Curtin to Catherine O’Hara. Also, I feel kind of ashamed how long it took me to realize that John Lithgow in 3rd Rock is basically an American John Cleese.
I heard it correctly the first time, but was then trying to place it in the Barenaked Ladies song, somehow. It’s not crazy. That song has a million words to it. Also, if you haven’t heard the Chris Cornell version (what I first heard in my head) I’d recommend it as much as .. well, just about anything Chris Cornell…
There was a comic at the Just For Laughs festival who claimed he could get every person in the building thinking the exact same thing with two words: “Hhhit’s been..!”
I like how they both try to trip each other up, and are clearly having a blast with the whole thing. I remember in the ‘law school’ sketch, when they were recounting the characters, and they both forgot about the British character, Nigel. At one point, Middleditch is scrambling to figure something out and he’s like,…
I mentioned right off the bat that I didn’t even write the joke in question, right? This is as pedantic as it gets. Enjoy your Pepsi or Coke.
I know that people don’t actually picture Canada’s population spread like peanut butter across the physical country, but even then, are we that sparsely populated? I guess I’m speaking specifically for Ontario, most of which doesn’t look a lot different from New York. I guess I’m just saying that us not behaving like…
It’s very much to their credit that I had to look to see that the episodes/sketches were nearly an hour long apiece.
Thank you for that. I’ve never read the books, and had always wondered if Sam’s speech was a bit of fourth wall-breaking on Jackson’s part. Worked beautifully either way, but nice to read the original.
