It’s ten episodes, to my knowledge. It’s not a masterpiece or anything, but the first two episodes are as all over the place as you can get, really, and they seem to realize that early on and fix a lot of it.

It did get considerably better after those first two episodes. Man, that show had no clue what it wanted to do, then.
Edit again: The show actually picks up quite a bit in quality after the first two episodes.

That was my problem with it. It never quite knows what it wants to be. Carell’s character just has no consistency. It’s essentially ‘Agent Michael Scarn in space with requisite tacked-on folksy wisdom moment at the end’, which is an odd choice for an actor/creator who seems to have wanted to distance himself from that…
Season 1 plays out as more of a ‘bonus feature’ to watch after you’re somewhere into the series. The Michael Scott character just has no redeeming qualities, which they give him starting in S2, which is essentially the reboot. That and the third season are excellent. People argue whether the show’s descent started…
You know who could take care of a baby? That Kevin Costner.
The best part is there’s a good chance he tells that story, too.
In fairness, the guy’s schtick was funny enough: “Why do I have to answer this question every time I meet a stranger?”
As for Snyder, good on him for posing with the guy after, but there’s a definite ‘Do you actually not know who I am?’ vibe. Save for the Spielbergs and Scorceses, most directors couldn’t be picked out…
I watched the series and certainly could have missed something, but is there any evidence of Michael Jordan’s gambling resulting in any harm to anyone, including himself?
From the sound of it, he’s the guy who constantly bets someone $5 they can’t do something better than them. I used to live with a person like that.…
I agree. It was mostly bad, but it wasn’t ‘Ted Cruz doing Mr. Burns impressions’ bad.
The accident was fine. It was beautiful. One of the best accidents I’ve ever seen. You woulda loved it. The accident was simply tremendous.
I don’t doubt he was poisoned (or wasn’t - hell, I don’t know) but the five guys delivering one pizza thing seems more like five guys who wanted to get a glimpse of Jordan. I don’t see why they’re supposed to be connected. As for the hangover rumours at the time, Jordan strikes me much more as someone who would kick…
I kept thinking Chelsea Peretti..
He’s always struck me as one of the more genuine on the apology circuit, and I feel he’s done his time, essentially. Granted, this comes with the caveat of coming from a white person, but I remember his meltdown being truly sad to watch. It was just a guy completely unraveling. Obviously what he said was beyond the…
I’ve never seen such an interesting premise so shruggingly squandered in execution.
In a similar vein, there’s one about Colin Farrell. He was in Toronto for TIFF, and there was a radio contest awarding $1000 to anyone who could get him to come to the station. He heard about it, and took the first homeless person he could find down to the place. That’s nice enough itself, but he also set him with up…
Walk Hard still wins for me as the best movie for how bad the trailer was. Somewhat ironically, Stepbrothers wins for the opposite.
One small shrapnel of history that came our way from the 95-96 season was that one of the ten teams to beat Jordan and the Bulls that year were the inaugural (and terrible) Toronto Raptors.
During the Raptors’ championship run, a Toronto reporter randomly lobbed Coach of the Warriors Steve Kerr a question about it,…
My father went to high school with Dave Foley. They never met, but he would see him around and recognize him. He literally knew him as one of the kids in the hall.
