Kassandra from Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. She’ll sleep with anything that has a heartbeat, so I’m thinking I might actually have a chance with her IRL.

So I instinctively excluded actual potential romantic options from my list as there I would rather think how well that story is told than from a crush perspective.

I think you’re right about some of the best games coming out late in a console’s lifecycle, except that they’re calling it late and there’s nothing from Sony on the horizon. Undoubtedly games will be better, so where are theirs? Sucks, but hopefully they’ve got some stuff cooking for 2025.

Also the fact that Gorelax the God of Death is currently set to destroy all of creation in a week and a half. I am kinda not looking to engage in a relationship right now”

Man, my PS5 still feels like a newish addition to my console collection. I have no desire for an upgrade. It doesn't even feel like games are pushing it to its limits yet.

I prefer the Inquisition take on game romance. It feels more real for the characters to have different sexualities. Not everyone is into the player character, and the characters can form their own relationships with each other. Sera can get with the dwarf scout, Dorian and Bull can end up together.

I think that whirlwind romances would actually be the norm in these situations.  You have a bunch of people facing constant life-or-death situations, the odds that they hook up actually go up quite a bit.  The part where realism would interfere is that most of these relationships would likely come crashing down once

As a sidenote, there are two assertions here that I do wish to push back on, at least a bit.

...what does that have to do with this? The Fantastic 4 are not primarily known as an animated property, have been adapted as live action feature films several times before, and are part of the same Marvel comic book universe that has already had so much adapted into the cinematic universe they’re joining.

Seriously. I love that they say ‘crew’ and her boyfriend’s listed, but not the folks at helm and ops.

frankly, I hope they hold off on Doom till they are really, really sure they got it down right. I’d almost rather have the mole man or paste pot pete or something if they are just going to half ass Doom, which I don’t have any expectation they would. I mean, Doom in truly iconic, as are the FF, so I do have some faith.

No Detmer and no Owosekun.  Love Discovery but it has really let down its secondary characters, even in the final poster.

Basically Keith David in Saints Row 4. You can romance anyone in that game, except for him.

I suspect it’s been quietly in production for a while now.

I would like to see more games where characters get into relationships that don’t involve the player. Aveline in Dragon Age 2 is a good example. When everyone else is just interested in the player, it’s refreshing to see Aveline actually get married and sort of move forward in her life. Meanwhile, everyone else that

Give me the party member that shoots you down not because of gender or sexuality but because “You’re making it weird, just because we’re friends and adventuring buddies doesn’t mean I’m DTF”

For me, the Inquisition model is one of the more successful. Having a variety of characters of varying sexualities, so they can feel like real characters but the player still has choices. Obviously, everyone can’t do that because it’s expensive to fully flesh out that many romanceable characters, but like the article

Hmm...I liked Arrow (well parts of it). He played a vigilante well. Don’t know if I buy Amell can play a charasmatic force of nature like Harvey Spector. Always thought he came off as a bit awkward when he tried to play the playboy role on Arrow. Never saw Heels so maybe he showed some of that there.

Can confirm, he can be a dick on set. Nothing scandalous or pearl-clutch-worthy, just… really, dude? His dickishness doesn’t hold up production though, so it’s kind of a “what are you gonna’ do?”-type deal.

He was not well loved by the crew of Arrow, I can tell you that. (live in Vancouver, know a number of folks who work in film)
