Interesting is that goals are up in hockey and scoring is up in the NBA as well (too lazy to check MLB). Seems like a general sports thing, and not so much NFL-specific.

So the general consensus is that last night’s game was incredibly fun and exciting and the greatest game ever played since the last greatest game ever played, blah blah blah. Personally, I don’t enjoy a game that feels like the outcome will be decided by whichever team gets the ball last and barring injury everything…
Obviously this was a clean hit, but it still has me wondering: Does the “defenseless receiver” rule also apply to a defensive back going for an interception?
This is exactly right. If GWU or Duke or UCLA want to have basketball teams, they either need to run them as separate business entities, the way universities run hospitals, with players as paid employees, or else they need to have pure amateur teams where players have an 18 game season against local teams a school bus…
Imagine being an academic at GW, seeing the salaries attached to these people, and their behavior, and then having to return to your teaching and research.
It’s 2018... If you are a college professor or administrator, keep your partying a hundred miles away from your employees or students. It’s not rocket surgery man.
Agreed, and some of the processes around it make no sense, either. The fact that Bell and the Steelers weren’t allowed to negotiate after July, for example. What is the actual point of that, other than to make it less likely that an agreement will be reached?
I’m assuming by “baggage” you’re referring to the fact that there are multiple photographs floating around out there of him standing next to Ben Roethlisberger
If owners are willing to collude not to sign Kapernick, I can see them colluding to massively underbid for Bell.
Yup. It’s a rare situation where he was absolutely right but also really screwed up.
As much as I think Bell was right to just do whatever he thinks is best for him and fuck all the haters, he is going to end up leaving a ton of money on the table. The soft collusion that pervades the ownership ranks of the NFL is going to lead to him getting a much smaller contract offer than if he had played this…
I’ve been to probably 75 Bears games and i don't think I've ever been more excited than when they trotted him out for the 2nd FG attempt.
Antonio Brown: Hey Ben, you see Lev’s new tweets? [hands Big Ben iPhone]
in fairness, a hand injury ended that guy’s career
“I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is, it’s nobody’s business. Sometimes things just don’t work out, and that’s OK. She’s a wonderful, strong person, and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world.”
It appears the authorities really greased the skids for this hardened criminal but do you really think he deserves any time in the penal system?
“Aw, c’mon, your honor! So I threw a dildo. The guy next to me was yelling ‘SHIT!’ the whole game and nobody arrested him!”
