Uh where to start with this?
Uh where to start with this?
Time to start modifying that mother. Put some larger batteries in it, a bigger motor. Burn some rubber
Don’t confuse rare with desirable
Not a ‘Saab leftover’ engine. In fact, it’s the 3rd generation of an all GM designed engine which was given to Saab when they were under GM ownership.
“but given demands for efficiency” wut? the driven wheels really have no impact on total efficiency. This is purely to make the vehicle more competitive in a world where people make decisions based on rear legroom and trunk space. Not to mention the massive cost saving that can be had by using the same platform across…
Sadly that diesel is too anaemic to convert anyone
Counterpoint; Nissan restarting production on classic skyline parts makes them much more in tune with fan needs than every other OEM who ignores the fans who can’t afford a brand new car
The only reason everyone is moving back to I6 is the use of modular vehicle platforms and engines - it makes much more sense to share components with an I4 engine than it does to design an engine from the ground up; BMW have the B38, B48 and B58 (3,4 and confusingly 6 cylinder engines using the same modular design),…
10k is fine. Fuel is much cleaner burning, engines are much better designed and oil technology has improved. Stop wasting money changing oil ever 3k
A lot of European manufacturers still do; Volkswagen longlife allow up to 2 years or 20,000 miles, BMW and Daimler are similar but rely more heavily on algorithms that look at how the vehicle is used; long highway journeys will keep the oil good for longer because any fuel contamination will evaporate. Short trips are…
Nothing wrong with that if you’re using ACEA/Dexos 2 oil. Every performance test in that specification is designed for extended drain intervals.
You can’t think of the oil as fluid that just meets physical properties. The majority of oil specifications are based on engine test performance which is predominantly driven by additive design, see some of the basic industry specifications here: https://www.infineum.com/media/228188/acea-2016.pdf you will see that…
Engine oil designer here. Ultimately if you are using the manufacturer recommended oil specifications and grade, and are within the oil drain interval you are protected for however you decide to warm up your oil. We spend a lot of money ensuring that these lubricants can flow as low as -40 deg. C. (for 0W grades).
You shouldn’t want things just because you can’t have them.
High pressure fuel pump. They’re run off a camshaft but the cam lobe that drives it is usually three or four sided so will sound ‘off beat’ to the engine. i believe the 2018 model is the first one with this.
Suspect it’s there because the engine is expected to burn enough oil to make the owner top up (low tension piston rings, low viscosity oil and high temperature engine all contributing to this)
100 % convinced it’s two door and that the rear door lines are there to confuse (notice how they pick out the frame of the doors but there is a second black one that blends in the with the glass)
1st gear: disagree. I think it’s the condition of the roads: Both road congestion and road surface. If i’m going to have to sit in heavy traffic on a potholed road, i’d rather do it in something comfy with lots of suspension travel and high side walled tyres.
fun fact. I regularly visit BMW Munich and for the last year they’ve been running Supra mules. Only makes sense if they’re engineering the majority of it, or they’d run Z4 ones. Right?
