Actually you CAN, when it lands, you can actually hit the "Guard/Follow" button it will bring it out of it's Stasis beginning and you can switch on the fly. So I usually would drop on the drop, once it landed wait a minute if there were other Titans around, and then as soon as it stood up, hit the button. OR…
