But the point of optimizing IS for sync’ing and/or streaming to a device, and choosing the same level on both should result in a non-transcoded download, and that often doesn’t happen.

Yes, have also had it stop at 50% after the app goes to sleep on the device. I have guessed it might be because it counts the 1st 50% as the time it takes to transcode the video, so in that time the app isn’t doing anything while the server is transcoding and then isn’t awake (or doesn’t wake up) to finish downloading…
Well, forget about seeing James Bond trying to get away in a “borrowed” Volvo then.
Battling with transcoding vs. direct play
Because you can compress the video from somewhere between 1/3 to 1/6th the size with a non-distinguishable loss in quality. I don’t encode to mp4 though because you lose the ability to handle subtitles from blu rays. I just compress the original mkv into a new mkv.
If luke warm, foamy melted ice cream is your thing, then, no, I don’t get it.
What the fuck man, that’s exactly what they did. Entitlement is a problem, but being pissed about getting your wages halved and generally feeling mistreated is legit. And they didn’t whine about it, bitch on social media, strike, or call up their local congressmen to beg for help. They walked - which is what they…
THIS 100%. The content of this story is exactly that and it has been happening to franchises all over the place. When you have a franchisee that owns a few restaurants, they are in fact a small business owner that has a vested interest in their locations running well. If they are smart, they pay their good employees…
Buffalo Wild Wings
I have no idea why people like their shakes. They taste like ice cream that was left out and melted.
Well, that’s super cool for all the soccer moms that can afford a 6 figure SUV.
All what 70s rock fans? I don’t know the people you do then. I’m a child of the 70's, teen of the 80's, I love both, and everyone I grew up with did too so I’ve never seen that distinction. Is that really a thing?
It looks like your error here was putting a deadspin comment in the avclub.
Holy shit he does look like old Sam!
No, you don’t want to use hot water b/c you want any bits of grease or oil to congeal and solidify so it doesn’t stick to the sides of your pipes. The disposal itself doesn’t generate any heat.
Well, it isn’t that scientific. A couple of potatoes, no problem. A dozen? Be careful. It’s just actually thinking for one minute about what you are doing and where that food material has to go.
Nah, it depends on your pipes and sewer. My mom has been putting that stuff down the disposal for 50 years w/o a problem. Other people though have lots of problems with things getting clogged. The main thing is to make sure you run enough water to get what you are grinding out to the sewer.
The problem isn’t exactly the peels, but the quantity vs. amount of water used to flush them out of your pipes.
I used to subscribe and got the surveys. Effectively ANYTHING that causes you to go in for service is counted. They are literally counting the number of times you have had to take it in to get something fixed - doesn’t matter what it was.
That’s why those lists are still somewhat BS. There’s not context to what sort of issues the cars had/didn’t have.
