“In fact, when it came to improved handling most American car companies didn’t even get how to market it, calling firmer suspensions things like ‘Heavy Duty’ and even going as far as to tout their models’ ‘road-hugging weight.’”

It is terrible what happened to your mother. As one of six children growing up in the ‘50s and ‘60s, “sister school” was a place we didn’t want to be. My oldest sister started there (probably 1957) and our mom pulled her out after a few weeks. Those were some nasty women.
Well, all that and it is seven years and EIGHT model years old, not five.
Man, Tootsie didn’t age well, IMO. The others are still funny, even Some Like It Hot is understood to be a product of a certain time. I loved Tootsie when I first saw it, but the last time I tried to watch it was cringeworthy.
For me, it’s hard to explain. I CAN’T believe in a god. I’m not wired that way, is the best I can explain it.
American cars of the late 1970s sucked. Really. Don’t ever think they will become classics; they won’t. No matter how rarely optioned. An American car from the mid to late 1970s will always be just an old car.

Nice bike, too much money.
That would have been an illegal play in football as well.
Key phrase: “...isn’t it?”
I didn’t notice that. What I did notice was how she analyzed the swing, and her knowledge of sports physiology. When I was a kid playing ball (omg, late 60s/early 70s) I wish I’d known that much about how to generate power. The woman knows her baseball. I look forward to having twice the size pool of really qualified…
I logged in to say this exact same thing. That woman was excellent, much better than those two doofuses.
It’s a good thing to have the choice, isn’t it? Even though I don’t use them, I’m glad they still make these, for guys like you who prefer them. Neither of us are going to switch, that’s for sure!

I dunno, a lot of these I don’t like but this one was pretty decent. I think you’re wrong here.
Of all the Republican candidates, he seems to be the one who actually believes what he is saying, rather than merely pandering to the base.
The thing about Elmore Leonard is, it really doesn’t matter where you start. Just pick up one, any one. And next thing you know it’s almost 4AM and you have 35 pages left. And then you get the others, and because now you know better you start reading earlier.
Simple answer, he is tripping balls. The ball comes at him and explodes in a paisley kaleidoscope, how you gonna catch the freakin’ thing?
