They probably couldn’t get away with that today. I often hear the words, “We are not your used car reconditioning department,” when speaking with underwriters. In order to get a claim approved within 30 days of sale you have to have computer generated date and mileage stamped records of your inspection and any work

My experience has been that both butts and briskets are better after they’ve sat in the cooler resting for a couple hours.

Start it at midnight or 1AM. It should be done around noon. You can wrap it in foil, then in a towel, placed in a cooler, for up to 4 hours; leave the thermometer in it, and if the temp falls below 140*, pop it in a 225* oven.

That’s what she said.

Way too much work to do and money to spend on a car that you’re always going to be answering questions about, one of those answers being “Four cylinders, about 85.”

Women’s college basketball. Not because they have the same speed and strength as the men, but because they play so freakin’ hard, every single second of every single game. It could be a mid-January game between Drexel and Hofstra, and those women play like it’s the NCAA finals. It’s fantastic, for that reason.

I’m thinking this guy will get a job somewhere soon.

“Paste wax is better than liquid wax!” Not true. The only layer of product that is left on your car is a couple molecules thin. Liquid wax goes on easier, leaves less residue, and, most importantly, is hard to contaminate. With paste wax, the pad eventually picks up specks of dirt that get in the wax, contaminating it

Kind of like hotrodding a 2001 Malibu. When it’s finished, you have some really nice work that was done on a crappy car.

I’ve been doing F&I for almost 30 years. The best chance for getting a fair rate is with a credit union. Dealers often don’t mind this because secondary finance sources often charge large acquisition fees that cannot be passed along to the customer. No fees, customer gets car that might help them re-establish: win/win.

Definitely nice price. An oddball that can be resold when you get tired of it.

I was reading this and thought, Who Cares? Then I got to the dad exception, and I smiled, and it all makes sense now.

I’ve had mine 5 years and chicken is something that ALWAYS comes out wonderful. Spatchcock a whole bird, bbq thighs, marinated breasts, however you want to do it, birds are the best on a kamado, they never dry out. I’ve started brisket at midnight and run it through to the next afternoon on one set of coal... I’ve

I would love to have a Komodo Kamado, but that’s just too much. I could probably justify some of the extra cost toward it’s ornamental value, and perhaps I’d consider it if I were younger (rationalizing the years of use), but in the end I consider it a luxury purchase, one that I’d rather spend the funds on elsewhere.

Regarding the BGE and the Akorn:

I prefer women country artists, from the non-superstar ranks. I LOVE Elizabeth Cook’s stuff: not the persona, but the musician. Give me Gillian Welch, Mary Gauthier, Lucinda Williams... give me the women who sound like they have seen hard times. Lacy J Dalton. Imelda May. They can let me feel it with them.

I usually CP automotive portmanteaus, but I like this one. Fair price for a nice conversion.

Now that’s more like it! The first one: disgusting stuff. There’s a reason organ meats fell out of favor, and it wasn’t because they tasted so good that the 1% hoarded them all for themselves. But the pie, I’d probably be able to make that into something that would be pretty good. Leave out the raisins and dates, add

The Sparrow is really well written stylistically, but it isn’t a very good book, IMO. Sorry. I was pulled along for quite a while, but then it fell completely flat for me. I know others found it fascinating, and in many ways it is. But I wouldn’t recommend it.

What people forget about beers, and about craft beers, and even about really expensive craft beers, is this: beer is common. Not just in that it is ubiquitous, but that it is a common drink for common people. Especially really good beer. In fact, that is one of the wonderful things about our times, that such a
