At this point the damage is already done. Fuck Unity. Every developer that is able to do so should start working toward publishing any future projects they start on something other than Unity. This is a net-negative for the industry. Microsoft isn’t historically a good steward of the things they buy. They are the console manufacturer with the least goodwill toward gamers as a whole.

I think you’re probably right. I wouldn’t mind Nintendo going “Oh hey here’s a full-powered console for this generation” at some point, but doing that they’d kneecap their future portable/console market potential because they would raise their own bar in a way that they would have trouble backing down from.
