I commute to work to a nice/high-end-ish office building. Bike needs to look clean and presentable. Nobody here cares if you drive a Civic or a Maserati but your stuff needs to look like you care about it.
I fire the bike up and let the engine come up to temperature, then take a short, fairly spirited ride around the block. It blows out the majority of the water, which I wipe down as soon as I get back.
Though not a Harley owner, I hear it’s essential to properly detail them so people can truly appreciate what a cool badass you are as you trailer them to whatever meet you’re going to.
I’m wondering why you suggest working from the bottom up. I do the opposite. My logic is that this way the water and soap are moving in the same direction I’m washing, down. Also, the “bottom” parts; wheels, engine, chain area, etc., are dirtier than the rest of the bike and should be done last to avoid contaminating…
I value my time a lot more than I did in high school. In high school, money was always very tight but time was plentiful. So it didn’t matter that it was $200 to untangle the broken serpentine belt, replace the broken pulley, and put it all back together. I’d spend the $50 in parts and fix it myself. Now, time is…
This should go without saying but live on less than you make. Credit is not free money, you save a lot of money by saving up and paying cash for things instead of financing.
Re: Corporate tax rate
Our corporate tax rate is among the highest in the world.
We also impose tax on earnings made overseas (which almost no other country does).
You remember those tax inversions that made headlines a few years ago. Wanna know why they do it? In part because of those two facts.
Very much something…

Learning to eat slowly, in general, has been a huge help to me in portion control. Bonus points: eating with chopsticks whenever possible (obviously not possible at many restaurants though). I’m slow as shit with chopsticks. Now I am good at slowly letting myself get full and also getting to the point of…
My mother-in-law asks for a to-go container before she starts eating.mshe immediately puts half of her food into the container and sets it aside.
When I’m at a restaurant that over-serves on the entrees, I always ask for a to-go box as soon as my food arrives (or before), and I immediately portion out 1/3 - 1/2 of my plate and set it aside. I am never tempted to dip into my to-go box.
Save a little bit of everything so you have a good lunch the next day. It really shows you how you are eating two meals at one sitting. Easy diet, cut 1/2 the food and half the calories.
Anyone else think these kids act like a bunch of bitches? Seriously... turning down a guaranteed college scholarship and a chance to play D-1 Football because someone thought you went to a fucking BBQ , was trying to be nice and sent you a thank you note?
In Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, victim kills criminal.
If I were he, my entire family would disown me for telling this story every 45 minutes.
This reminds me of how happy I am to be moving from LA to GA (basically FL) in the next few weeks. If we don’t end up buying a house we can rent a house for what we are paying now or even less. (Still really want a house.)
I’m getting a vibe that in 3-5 years this will be one of those projects that Google shuts down @_@
It seems very similar to apps like Pinterest and Trello and i’m not sure if users would be willing to switch over to this. Maybe if they add a type of import feature from those services?
Working in a newsroom 101.
Our daily newsroom budget meetings start around 3:30 p.m. and never start on track. The editor will spend about 30 minutes talking about Arcade Fire, the Arctic Monkeys and "Good Morning America," schmooze with the much younger staffers and then maybe chew out a senior editor for not sending the A1 pdf to Newseum the…
