They already did delay it. It was supposed to be out in February. In the video game industry it seems that more time doesn't mean more breathing room, it just means you work harder longer. A three month delay means three more months of crunch.

Its probably good for Diablo to have a singular person in charge to oversee everything. The franchise has a pretty rocky history with direction. Diablo 3 was long in development and had to course correct after release and D4 has apparently been a struggle.
