Oh wow I couldn’t even see the video because I had an adblocker on (sorry Jalopnik!), thanks for explaining this so I went looking for it! All I could see before was the GIF. Headline makes a ton more sense now.

I actually really like this car, but somehow I’ve never heard of it. Very clean 80's design. Was it sold in the US?
This is exactly what it looks like to me. The dirt they’re kicking up would be in front of them if it was one car passing three.
I’d be curious to see differences in total weight and distribution of the sedan vs. the ute. Most of the structure is the same, all you’re really losing in the back is a seat, decklid, and rear glass. Might not be as significant as it looks.
I thought the point the author was trying to make was that autonomous cars could encourage more people to take cars to work, actually causing more congestion, because they have the main benefits of public transportation (being able to relax and not stress over traffic) with few if any of the drawbacks.
If a child is having any kind of reaction to anything, and his entire family has to get taken off the plane and miss their flight, and you clap, then you sir would be an asshole. Doesn’t matter if you don’t know the whole situation. It takes less effort to keep your hands still and be a decent human being.
Holy drop bear crap. I did a cars.com search for the regular G8, there’s only 4 in the country I can find with a manual transmission. Cheapest listed is $28k. I understand it’s an enthusiast icon but CP all day for that. None of those should be worth more than an M5 from the same year, maintenance be damned.
Damn. Glad you’re recovering well Sean. I’m one of those who haven’t been down yet, still very wary of the possibility every time I go out.
As a relatively new rider (2013) who bought all of his gear on revzilla and has only read motorcycle enthusiast material on lanesplitter, can you point me to an article that explains what you’re talking about? I feel out of the loop :/
The Wert-father would never let this happen.
Erob, I honestly wasn’t trying to be witty in my original post, I thought it was a valid question as to how he came to his conclusion. I apologize if it came across this way, Internet comment tone can be difficult to interpret at times.
Hi Erob, I’m not sure where you think I’m confused and misinformed but let me break my logic down for you. Please let me know where I’ve made a mistake:
That’s how I understood it as well. I double checked Wikipedia (always the most reliable source) and it said dry weight is the weight without fluids, curb weight is the weight with fluids but without anything else, and GVWR is the max allowable weight the vehicle can carry including its own weight. With a Tesla being…
The weight you quote from that R&T article is the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. That’s the maximum allowable weight listed by the manufacturer, including curb weight, passengers, and max cargo. Curb weight is still only 5,441 lbs so you can fit a couple of fairly large Americans and a few bags of luggage before you’re…
Isn’t tracking down the own exactly what Horace said he was going to do next?
Can’t say that I’ve actually met him, but Joe seems like a pretty solid guy. Went to all the trouble to have a custom reserved parking sign made for his Tesla. This is in the alley behind Old Crow Smokehouse in Chicago.
There’s a Dainese store in Chicago? I need to go to there pronto. My first helmet (AGV) is coming up on three years old and I bought it sight unseen/fit untried after taking some head measurements. It’s been serviceable and thankfully hasn’t had any impacts but it’s not the most comfortable thing. A better fitting one…
I’m going to be in Palatine this weekend! (Actually a Chicago suburb, not sure why this is posted in Springfield). Fairly tempted to check this out, though I still need to sell my first bike after buying my most recent one. But if I sold them both....
The Volt has an IC engine too....
First Bike: 2008 KLR 650. Low miles, easy to maintain even if the only tools you have are in the kit strapped into the backseat, affordable, and a very easy upright riding position. Enough torque to get moving, not so much power that I’m going to kill myself. Got a ticket going flat-out on the freeway, it was about 85…
