I don’t know. The NK is clearly intelligent. He has plans. He’s tried to assassinate people, he has a sense of humor, he presumably made a conscious decision to put on a shirt at some point. 

I wonder if things like the Three Eyed Raven or the Prince who was Promised were mysteries GRRM never told the producers and since the producers didn’t really know for sure, just sort of skipped over a lot of it. Better to not delve into it then come up with some half assed dumb explination that is completely shot…

I'm very disappointed we didn't learn anything about them beyond "children of the forest super weapon gone wrong." Not even why the Three Eyed Raven was his mortal enemy. All of Bran's new information seems to revolve solely around the Iron Throne, nothing useful on the Night King.

I thought about it and realized the reason why they had the Dothraki die in the night was not only to make the dead army seem invincible, but also to save money on the FX budget.
