Well, it’s obvious. He will never be able to grab anyone by the jersey with his left hand out of desperation. He will miss the odd makeable interception because he’s only got one set of fingertips. Nobody plays with a cast or club as a preference because it is literally limiting.
He was pretty good. A few really good seasons, decent fielder, and most amazingly even got a couple of hits. He was so smooth that eventually you barely noticed he was anything other than a quality MLB pitcher. Really impressive.

I don’t think it will be much of an issue. It is probably more likely that he will never walk normally again than return to being an NFL caliber athlete. He’s just telling himself what he needs to hear.
