The phrase “reliable, sensible car” should never be used on an old, inoperable, Land Rover but we’re talking David Tracy here so I’ll allow it.

I’m not sure what to think about a Christmas rom-com that isn’t on the Hallmark Channel and doesn’t star a former child actress. It seems a little unnatural.

This is him as a young man. Not a bad looking guy, but not a male model.

Let’s remember, for just a moment, that Harland Sanders was a real person who looked like this:

Every so often we have to have a British band that features brothers who hate each other. It’s a law of nature. Some feature better hats than others, though.

I know, I know, but I look at that torque number and think it’s going to drive like my wife’s old G37X. That is, plenty of power up top but not enough low end torque. I’m sure when I actually drive it I won’t even notice. Still, it’s hard to look past the Edge’s 335hp and 380lbs-ft.

I will be shopping this niche some time next year and have been eyeing the Passport. I don’t do actual offroading but do go up in to the mountains on rough two-tracks so it seems like it would fit the bill. I just wish it had more power, but then again I always do.

Even here in the PNW where IPAs are king, and usually very hoppy (though less so now than in the past), almost every bar I go to offers a porter and/or stout or two. My wife is not a big fan of hoppy beers either but can almost always find a porter or stout to enjoy.

Now that Ash has me thinking trains, I’m thinking something steam powered would be the way to go, whether via rail or road. No worries about finding gas or diesel, just chop some wood. Jay Leno is a prepper and we didn’t know it.

Way, way too complex. You’d be better off in a restored old truck. Even David Tracy’s Jeep J10 would be preferable.

I think it looks good on the early 60s Impalas because they add some interest to the large flat trunk and that would be especially true for a convertible, though I don’t know how much functional signal diversity they added.

I not only remember the big antennas but think certain Impalas look better with dual antennas.

I preferred Betty Boothroyd’s “Order!”.

Car Talk was so prevalent that they even showed up on a PBS animated kids show.

I was really astonished when as an adult I realized that Foghorn Leghorn was Senator Claghorn from the Fred Allen [radio] Show.

You might be right about Julie Newmar, but there is at least an argument to be made for someone who could purr purrfectly.

Watching this I think I realized why while I loved the performances, I didn’t love the movie. The fact that the songs didn’t match the timeline took me out of the movie every time it happened. Like the scene you mention where he sings Crocodile Rock instead of experiencing his emotions I was thinking “wait, that song

I’m taking a wild guess, but I think they saw that, backed up the DVR, then recorded it on their phone.

The correct answer would be a Nova hatchback. Easy to work on, cheap parts, but still unusual and you could probably find one with a straight six if you really wanted to.

Luckily Australians are drunk on Sterno at all times.
