Back then with a manual transmission 4th gear was pretty universally the 1:1 gear with anything above it being an overdrive. That’s probably why they chose it. Now the 1:1 gear would vary but you could keep it at that ratio.

Agreed, of all of the looks she had during the run of the show that was the least flattering. I even like the cut from the pilot episode better.

Amen. It wasn’t fun the first time to those of us who lived through it but I guess to those who are just looking back  with no personal experience it has a certain appeal because it was so different than what they’ve experienced. 

Is there a Martin Balsam biopic in the works? Because judging by that picture Jemaine Clement would be perfect casting.

I don’t think I’ll be making the 4 hour drive to Kalispell for that, even though it’s a gorgeous drive. If they had done it during summer I might have thought about it.
