Even leaving aside all the reasons I’m going “Noooooope” to WoW right now...

After everything that happened with activision/blizzard last year I deleted my battle.net program and have never looked back. Personally, legion was the last great expansion and after BofA and Shadowlands I’m starting to feel that was a fluke more than anything

They didn’t have a scandal involving a governor to distract from before.

That’s a hell of a grim statement towards Sony’s service.

Because you can do all this already without NFTs. You’re adding complexity for zero added value, something that in any other industry would result in you getting your walking papers.

SBB was a popular game in one of the communities I frequent, and the moment word of this buyout came down, the opinion was pretty much unanimously “Well, it was fun while it lasted.” People immediately dropped it like it was on fire and made of spiders. 😬

Scarcity is a gameplay mechanic. It is satisfying to acquire a previously out of reach in game item. If everything was free then the players wouldn’t get that sense of accomplishment when they finally grind their way to a lambo or whatever. Forcing players to pay extra fees to get that content when the grind is too

Luke, do you have any friends that are strippers? I suggest asking them what they think. Is it okay to have sex during a lunch break? What if it’s with a sex worker? What if you look at porn? Is that OK? Or is it only wrong if anyone else is there from the office?

So....a solution? Sounds like you don’t want them to explore these cultural identifiers and the explorer-genre tropes. Should half the cast be fired and people you find “approved” be playing this game?

It doesn’t seem to be as cut and dry as the article suggests. If you watch the accused person’s video it paints a drastically different picture.

I don’t know much about Roblox or Ruben, but that video linked in the article paints a pretty troubling picture of Roblox as a company. I’ve also previously watched a different video from People Make Games regarding predation on Roblox and that was similarly stomach churning.

No clue where you pulled your quote from,

Why would he? He was asked about the topic in one brief question nearly three years ago in an E3 interview in Kotaku that went on for so long that it had to be spread across three different posts and the guy was probably in and out of interviews constantly during the show with all manner of publications.

It’s hard to believe that an executive at one of the largest tech companies in the world isn’t familiar with the basics of how collective bargaining works.

And then Disney buys Microsoft.  And then Amazon buys Disney.  And then the Vogons demolish the Earth to make way for a hyperspace bypass.

I wanted for over a decade for gamefreak to change up the formular and not give us the same game over and over again. And after just hearing the initial pitch for this game I was super on board but after seeing trailers and screenshots of the project I won’t be buying it.

And yeah I am aware that this goes against

Thank you. I was wondering why this trailer felt off-putting.

The more gameplay I see of this game the more it turns me off of it. Gamefreak finally does what fans had wanted for awhile, but typical to their current method they put the least amount of effort into things.

You mean the giant commercial celebrating Twitch didn’t include content that is no longer available on Twitch? Well, knock me over with a feather.

Everyone keeps telling me that Streaming is a legitimate business and occupation. Why exactly would one business highlight the content of someone who no longer makes them money and is actively working for another business that is trying to undercut them?

I think Final Fantasy XIV is responsible for a bigger hit to WoW's numbers than New World.
