Then the junk shop was breaking the law as were you.
I said (to the agents), ‘Here you go. There’s probably human bones in there, but I know better than to give you that answer.’
Listen, tell yourself whatever you need to. I’m entirely unsure what your rabid hatred of French (as a language? nationality? both?) has to do with this old guy’s foot-in-mouth asshaterie.
So a county can’t make laws that affect “other cultures” within its own borders? Religiously-imposed vaginal mutilation is against the law in the US, France and many other countries—right or paternalistic interference with “other culture”?
The fucking entitlement. I mean, I’m an atheist; I don’t think there’s anything left in those bones. But using someone else’s remains, someone you never knew, never sought consent from, to perform your crackpot religious rites is fucking wrong.
Lol take a seat
You don’t get to own someone’s body, no matter how poor they were in life. That doesn’t seem all that complicated.
Absolutely; there’s nothing feminist in demanding women wear less clothing than they’re comfortable with.
I feel like an outlier whenever this is discussed because even though I wasn’t raised in a family or faith tradition that stressed modesty, I definitely came to it on my own in terms of valuing clothing choices that disguised the nature of my (not bad by most standards) figure from casual observers. I was rarely…
Texts between Jackie and one of her freshman friends (the guy she reportedly wanted romantic attention from) suggest she might have also created an online identity to “catfish” the friend, and suggested in text messages with the friend that she had a terminal illness from which she was dying.
So... this claim may not…
While I agree France has its fair share of dicks, and unfortunately often exports them, I really don’t think the country is “shuttering”.
That’s a bit of an overestimate... there are more like 215/220 million French speakers. And French culture within France may not be on a decline, but France is certainly becoming less and less culturally and politically important abroad. It’s something that happening to all European countries and languages. Europe is…
My (many) native English friends living in Québec and PEI would probably like to beg to differ. You seem to have a strong opinion that the French language and French culture (not actually the same thing btw) are in decline. Why is that?
The fact that some women choose to embrace it as part of their faith doesn’t change the fact that the roots of the practice stem from the suppression of women endemic to Islam. Too many of us are too delicate to point out that there are problems with the tenets of a major organized religion and it’s not doing anyone…
They don’t care about the former colonies, they care about a certain image they have of themselves. I’m not defending it, to be clear, I find that law heinous. However, that’s a significant difference if you want to undertsand the root of the story.
There are about 274 million French speakers in the world. French is still taught in many European countries as a foreign language. You have no clue what you’re talking about and sound very bitter and resentful.
“The French have an unhealthy obsession with what Muslim women do, wear or fuck.”
“the rest should buy their clothes from Dress Barn...”
“Women should be celebrated and never hidden, so long as they are a size six or less.”
