I suspect they went easy on him because he stopped immediately, and this part of the highway isn’t uhh....the *worst* place to speed.  It’s a relatively safe stretch of road.

the weird thing about this situation isn’t that it exists - we all know how it evolved. it’s how strongly people will insist it can’t be any other way, and defend it.  they’ll bitch about their commute but lose their minds if some politician tries to get some transit built.  it’s like driver stockholm syndrome.

i had a suzuki grand vitara for a while. it was a boxy(ish), body on frame off road capable car that was actually pretty good on the highway. and brilliant around town.

i am definitely not preoccupied with 1/4 mile times...it’s just a number. why would i be shopping any of these cars if i cared about that. you stated definitively that the car ‘underperforms’. if you like, define that, and we can talk about that.

you can make any point you like, but if you’re going to talk about ‘performance’ you’ll have to define it i guess.

it’s the most amazing bolt-on mod i’ve ever experienced. it’s like $500 for 40 whp.

underperforms compared to what? it’s much faster than a BRZ and regularly makes 14.6 second 1/4 mile times, making it completely competitive with the other cars you mention.

if you think that’s funny, wait til you try to accelerate in a BRZ

the Si is a brilliant car. a better sports car than a BRZ/86 in my opinion.

heavier than a Z and same power. i still like it, but i’m not seeing the value here.

i’m very pro caster, but the difference between her and phelps is that phelps is swimming in the ‘open category’. biological differences are not policed there.
