So, I used to be a kid, and a metalhead kid at that, but always thought Metallica’s “Seek and destroy” actually said “She can destroy”. Went about my teens singing that and never caught on the other kids laughing at me. You’re alright, your mistake wasn’t that bad :)

A friend told me a very similar story. His parents were hippies so he didn’t have TV, and he thought what his friends were saying was some sort of Transformers battle cry: “Transformers: Mortemeetcia!”

The 8 year old discovered my friend’s 7 year old grandson (who I knew fairly well), and they both started running around the house and playing. The 8 Read more

I want to go back in time and buy you Transformers. And cable TV. But since I can’t, I’ll buy all my many many great-nephews and great-nieces (and a couple of great-greats) mini staplers.

I LIKED Go-Bots. And off brand Bandai stuff that would show up in clearance at the local department store. I had a weird Japanese hawk/robot that was my favorite transformer toy.

My antipathy toward all things Transformers and Gobots lasted for many years, and were not improved by the Michael Bay films in any way. Read more

I feel your pain. It was usually the less immediate family (aunts and uncles you saw once every couple of years) who got me them, as if their thought process was “It doesn’t say Transformers, but it transforms, so he’ll like it!” I’ve still got a couple of them, and my feelings toward them haven’t warmed in the Read more
