Punnet square humour… I'm happy you're here…
Grimm does exist!
I thought it was all a dream - a dream of a fairly interesting concept for a horror-fantasy/crime mash-up cast with charming character actors, but piss-poor execution from executives completely lacking in vision or passion for their project on a network that has no idea what it wants, but we still…
I remember cringing after seeing the first promos, because we need another Jack the Ripper adaptation like we need another Sherlock adaptation. But I watched for Macfadyen, and I've been pleased that I stuck with it.
Is the NBC marketing department even trying any more…?
Reminds of my experience seeing Wilde - so, the local art house theatre is out in an affluent suburb populated mostly by older white conservatives. Especially those who like to reward themselves for being oh so cultured by going to see arty films. So there was a lot of shifting in seats through most of the movie -…
Okay, so… Much Ado About Nothing is perhaps my favourite Shakespeare play, and I always appreciate Whedon even if I don't fall in love with every individual work.
Romeo + Juliet (don't forget the "+"!) was a horrible piece of work, agreed.
Christ, you're right - thank you. I'm far too sleep deprived this week.
Clue - Absolutely, you watch that movie now and everything just works. Assemble some of the best comedic performers (that's got be one of the best cast ensembles of the decade), smart whip crack dialogue with just a touch of slapstick thrown in. I don't know why it wasn't a bigger hit in it's time; maybe the gimmick…
I missed this the first pass through and almost mentioned it myself.
For me, "The Suitcase" isn't just a great episode of Mad Men, it's maybe the best television I've ever seen. So if we're going to get all nerdy and nitpicky over which season was better, my vote goes to S03. S04 was excellent, but I didn't get that highnote that I did in S03.
What do I think is "perfect," or at least nothing I would change - now I'm over-intellectualizing every book, video and album on my shelves…
The first 11 minutes are so brilliant - if I can't sit and watch the entire film, I at least can't tear myself away until the opening in London is over.
I have a hard time thinking critically about Clue - it's one of my most beloved childhood favourites and I think maybe the most referenced bit of pop culture in my house. But it was a commercial flop and I never met anyone who even knew the film, let alone was a fan of it.
It's so timeless.
Ah, "The Suitcase" - the best hour of television in my lifetime. I struggle to think of something that even comes close to it.
Bruce Coville and Peter S Beagle nods in the same day?!
Ah Grimm returns - I've never been so excited to be disappointed…
Well, it's not the 80's when you created a stage persona and then spun that persona into a sitcom.
