    Same here!

What was it Sam said - "I didn't create racism by pointing it out"?

Or the people who created it and those who love it and feel it's for them…

Yes, she certainly feels like a one-note character now, and I'd like to see that change. And what happened to her poor dog? :(

I agree! I love Supergirl too (though the quality there fluctuates), and that one's certainly not subtle about its messages. It can still be clever.

    Yay, I don't have a life either!

Well thanks for telling us I guess? I'm not against lectures about race myself, because I want to be as educated as possible. This show isn't a lecture though.

For me, it's difficult to hypothetically apply the feeling of being generalised from a stereotype to this case of white people being called out - because I am white and I don't feel like I'm being put in a box or unfairly generalised by the show. And CERTAINLY not its title.

I try to figure out if I would have been annoyed by it 10+ years ago, when I was pretty clueless about racism. But I was a kid then and I don't think someone who grows into an adult and never learns to understand systemic racism better has the same perspective. After a while you can become quite stuck in your ideas

… No they're not. And I'm pretty sure the conversation was about college campuses, not the cities/states where they happen to be located.

True. Some shows really need more room to breathe.

    Less than 10? ;)

I got bored with Atlanta after two episodes but binge-watched this, so we'll have to agree to disagree. :P "Desperate" is just rude though.

It's so uncomfortable! I think it pokes a lot of fun at earnest white SJWs as well - so it feels like it's doing me some good to watch. XD

I was waiting for a Joelle-episode. :/ Wanted her to be more three-dimensional outside of her unrequited feelings. I hope they're just saving it for next season.

    LIONEL <3

Yep. I love that the show brings up important issues, and I feel like I'm learning from it even if I'm not one of those white people who shout "reverse racism". But it would have been enough that it's simply a good TV show.

Since Sam was biracial in the movie as well, isn't this more likely an issue with the script rather than casting? (Though the casting would need to be changed as well if the script+character was written differently.)
